Politicians do what they think the people want them to do not what they think is right. The right choice isn't always the popular choice. The only politician I knew who followed that mantra was Harris.

Harper is not Harris. Harper is a sellout conservative. I bet he does not do the "right" thing for Canada if it were to mean losing an election. Harris did the right thing for Ontario even though it potentially meant losing the election (which oddly enough it did not).
