wish I was there. Was supposed to watch, but as always, no babysitter and there is no way he could sit through a show. Can't wait to see/hear updates! Couple guys from my gym going there. Both will likely win their classes.

The overall winner competed and won 1st place in 2009 nationals in vancouver last year (light middle), and won first place overall in this tested show.

How the heck is Rick McCutcheon in this? He may have been clean for this show and for the te period allowed but he is not natural.
When are the federations going to stop allowing previously juiced competitors to compete as a natral?

I know eh...some federation have the rules of 5 years etc. This show is basically: if we test and you pass, then you're allowed! And that's if we test you...
I think I am just going to compete against the best of the best from now on. Not like winning a natural show means anything anymore.

Ya i know, but maybe he has health problem, now and can't take gear anymore,or he just doesn't want to.His Physique will look day and night if he really did come clean.

So no pro cards for the men's bodybuilding?
I thought it was 5 years clean, that's the rule for our provincial show.

it would be kinda silly to give out men's pro cards at a natural show. bikini and fitness and figures are ok, it's not like you need to be huge to and muscular to win bikini. Figure is even starting to go towards less muscle

I see your point but with the new 202 class short naturals could compete or decide to step to the dark side and be competitive in the 202's.
What happens after that the Worlds and then nothing higher?
steve_d
04-06-2010, 03:22 PM
with the 202 class, short naturals would have no chance unless they joined the dark side, and won the overall at the non-tested nationals as a light heavy.
After world qualifer, its worlds, and at that show you can get your pro card if you win...But you're not going to win the worlds unless you're taking lots and lots of stuff.

You are 100% right, now that I think about it.
I guess if you win the natural nationals you better just try the regular nationals after that like Greg is doing.

Anyone know the scoop on why Eric E. got taken off the CBBF results page as the overall open winner for the 2010 Naturals?
I know what I would assume but I hate assuming and just wondering if anyone had any facts?

Like I mentioned earlier, not sure which thread - same guy that won the non-tested nationals. I don't know what he had to prove to do a natural show. I mean, if he wasn't placing in the non-tested, then at least I could explain WHY he would cheat (ie, see other thread title "natural competing")...
But the fact that he's winning a non-tested show, a national show at that....
Scratches head.
I don't know what he failed for, and if it were for something very minor (although still cheating) I could almost be sorry for the guy. But something tells me it wasn't a fail for ephedrine.

Yeah it's pretty odd that he would come and compete in a natural show when he already won a national non-tested higher caliber show.
I am guessing he was trying to prove that he could compete as a natural and that his physique isn't all due to drugs.
He may have stopped using gear for a year, competed in the show and tested positive for metabolites of drugs that hadn't yet cleared from his system.
Who knows? I would love to know his story though...
To be honest, I am kind of relieved because when I looked at his physique, I was like oh shit, that's pretty bad ass for a natural...

Well, the way I see it is that he probably just switched out the things he was taking and hoped it cleared. He looked basically the same at the tested show as the non tested. Perhaps just slightly less hard. So my guess is he didn't just stop for a year.
Either that, or he's actually not taking too much, and justified that he's "almost" natural, so it is "fair game" since he was likely on stage with a few others who were just as unclean...
All these are just theories. I am not acusing of anything. I really dont care since its the same old thing year after year. The CBBF has caught many a competitor at the world qualifier dating years back, as well as the ontario naturals. I am glad they are still catching people though, since I believe they test less than they used to - making it easier to slip by. I remember a few years ago when about 10% of the roster had asterisks next to the placings sheet!

And I'm of the opinion that we shouldn't bother testing these guys going into thew world qualifiers.
I went to Moscow with my buddy in 05. He had used for a period of time when he was younger but then stopped for 6 years (at least) when he had his daughter and that's when we decided to compete for the World Qualifier. He qualified.
We got over to Russia and h-o-l-y shit! There wasn't one guy there who looked clean. My buddy is 5'9 and weighed in at roughly 230lbs of 38 year old muscle and ripped to shit (Binetti trained). He looked like a child next to these guys.
We send athletes to the Worlds to fail it seems. Now maybe things are different in weight classes with a floor and a ceiling but being a SHW there's no way those guys were clean.

^agreed...and it goes all the way down to the bantam weights at worlds...The only difference is that the 143 pound guys are 3 foot 6! I've seen pics from the worlds for the past decade or so, and the top 5 in almost all weight classes look like they would win our non-tested nationals.
Not sure if that makes it right to justify not bothering to test at our world qualifier. I mean, in the 1 sense, it would allow us to be competitive at worlds, but in the other sense, I always thought of the world qualifier as "tested nationals" and thats where the journey would end. For a lot of people, the world qualifier is just our natural national show...not a qualifier to go to the circus show at worlds.
I think they should eliminate the whole idea of "worlds"...

Ronnie Coleman won his pro card at the Worlds in 91 so it can't be that hard, he had pretty bad genetics. :troll

Thanks for the scoop guys. That's what I thought. I was there and saw him up close. I didn't want to say anything but I had a pretty solid feeling that he got tested he'd fail.
I also agree that having to do a tested show to qualify to go up against users at the world level sucks and Canada will likely never place very well.
Andre Gregoire

The thing with the worlds is that other countries besides US / Canada treat it like the Olympics, everyone uses drugs in the Olympics and it's ok so other countries do the same for their bodybuilding athletes.

... but none of them treat it like it's a "natural" show. They treat it as a "tested" show and dodge the out of season testing.

Jose said on his radio show that that's exactly the moment when he decided to cross over to the dark side. He might be lying but you can tell by his physique the drastic transformation he has gone through in the last 5 years.

Kai Greene placed 6th at the worlds in 1999 and Paco Bautista won the heavyweights but was disqualified, what a shocker... ha ha
