Carwin vs Lesnar
what are your predictions?

Carwin - first round KO.
Not sure about the first round, but ya Carwin is going to bust Brock's jaw for sure:)
Yes brock is huge, but he is far...FAR from being a good fighter.
Carwin will go into that fight without the cocky attitude Mir did the second go round with Brock.
Did you see those uppercuts from Carwin last night.....HOLY SHIT:shock
If Carwin punched me in the face I think he would honestly kill me!!!

I am hoping carwin for the KO, but brock could easily take him down and hammerfist him to death..lol.. lets all just pray for a carwin KO... then Mir can rematch Brock, sub him out and send Brock back to pro wrestling!!

i think it will be decided on the ground, first one to get on top in a dominant position will win, we know brock is great at the takedown and pounding guys out and clearly Carwin is a beast too should be a great battle. **** YOU HARDY you bum!

Carwin looks good, but honestly, i cannot see him beating Lesnar, He is much quicker than Carwin and covers a lot of ground....Hoping he is better than ever after he heals up from sickness....Cannot wait!!!

Carwin should be big enough that Brock cannot manhandle him.

This - I don't see Brock being beat. Hate him all you want, he is FAST and extremely powerful & explosive. I don't see Carwin getting up from under Brock once he's on the ground.

i was referring to your post about Carwin being too big for Brock to manhandle. Brock manhandled Mir. If Carwin didn't look big next to Mir, he certainly isn't going to look big next to Brock. I was just surprised by that, that's all.

I hate Brock. Oversized WWF wrestling goon. Ya hes a hell of a striker but hes not agile enuf nor does he have a ground game. I for some reason love watching Carwin fight because hes such a warrior and hes mentally tough. I dont know what will happen but im hoping Carwin takes it because hes really kicking ass lately and Brock seems to be all washed up.

Ya man I ****ing HATE Lesnar. After he ko'd Mir last time then gave the crowd the middle finger, dissed a company for not "giving him money" then went on to boast how he was gunna get on top of his woman that night just did it for me.
Like who the **** says shit like that???
He's a ****ing goof and Carwin is going to knock him out BIG TIME.

Brock is a clown. I was really pissed off as well when he beat Mir, than dissed the crowd and Bud light. Screw you Lesnar. I hope Carwin tears him to peices. I'm expecting him to do it in 4 min in the first round.
Lesnar is an overly-arrogant prick that needs a good beat-down for the sake of humility. Mir was starting to get the same way so it was fun to watch him eat his own words.

Yes. Do you not believe Brock is a extremely powerful striker and a hell of a wrestler grappler. But on the ground is he that technical and have that effective of a ground game. I should probobly stick to BB which is what i no and truthfully have no mma expierence.

Lesnar made Carwin look like a kid standing there...And the big fella has great ground game, Wrestling is ground game, and he has become a hell of a striker.....See ya Carwin, and lets not forget Brock is a gamer, he enjoys pissing folks off and being the villain, he is good at it, but also his smile lets us know he is having fun....When he callled Carwin ok, but hes gonna kick his ass....Big smile!!!!:D
I love him....Adds some spice..

The big test with Brock is to see how he can handle a punch. He hasn't been in a war yet. Randy landed a couple shots on him that woke him up but nothing like the power Carwin will be throwing. Brock will probably win as long as he comes in shape and ready to eat a few bombs. Their games are pretty similar so it could potentially turn into a snorfest, neautalizing each other out. Even though Brock is arrogant he has made the division interesting again atleast.
As a former Jiu Jitsu competitor I really dislike the WWE bullshit Brock brings to MMA. Leave the role play posturing in the freak show known as professional wrestling. MMA is about dignity, honour, and respect. Tito is bad enough, but Brock simply does not belong. Allowing the likes of him will be the ruin of true MMA.

sweet jesus, hopefully BDH doesnt read this, lol.
as said by rick, can brock take a punch? in one of his last bouts he admitted to seeing tweety birds from a shot, carwin will be dropping heavier bombs than any he has felt before.
the late gracie said you start your fight as a black belt.....get hit once you're a brown belt....get hit twice you're a purple belt.
in brock's defense though, carwin will be getting hit harder than ever too.
The fight I really want to see is Fedor/Brock or GSP/Anderson Silva. Hopefully those fights don't happen after they're past their prime like Wandy/Chuck.

Brock is a prick, but is very smart. He loves that you guys hate him because he knows it brings in the money. And if Dana White is making money, Brock is making money. AT THE END OF THE DAY, IT'S IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. The fight could go either way. Brock comes out like a bulldog and intimidates his opponents. Once he has them off guard, he takes them down and hammers them 'till thier lights are out. The only way to beat him is with a lucky shot in the "sweet spot" or submit him. Carwin is a good striker and could lay the deadly blow brings brock down, but my prediction is that Brock will take it.
Pudzianowski vs. Lesnar....now that i would pay big to see.

Im also a former martial artist, MMA, is not that culture...Seriously, Do you see Rampage jackson as a cultured martial artist...I sure dont, nor do i see it in many of these guys, its a different sport, and that is what is needed for entertainment and money...I love the smack talk and all of the entertainment it brings.....That doesnt generally happen In martial arts....This fighting in the ufc is called MMA, just for the sake of giving it a name, Wrestling is not a form of martial arts, and some of the great wrestlers dominate the UFC, lets compare apples to apples...
Brock will bring in more viewers than royce gracie et al ever could, or will...:D

True, i got carried away, i dont really know of a standout BJJ only type of fighter in the ring these days..!!
I think todays wide myriad of skills just draws a much larger dedicated crowd, than a plain martial arts type of forum....
With that comes a very broad spectrum of characters, which i applaud....:greet

my 2 cents....
I would argue that wrestling is in fact a martial art, just as boxing is a western martial art. it's beginnings predate many other arts.
guys like GSP, Silva, Nog and Randy are the definition of true mixed matrial artists. the ufc hosts MMA fights and has managed to strangle the competition, it isnt necessarily the epitome of MMA.
brock wouldn't be bringing in any viewers if it wasn't for guys like gracie, so in fact, royce and his family have achieved more than brock ever will.

While i like your post and it made me think... i disagree ....Gracie started the role if you will but in the last fights i have seen Silva in, most spectators booed him and his lack of energy expenditure in the ring...While he is a great, maybe one of the best fighters, the crowd didnt approve of his last couple fights style....
When lesnar and guys like him hit the scene it is like....yayyyy, party time and shit lights up....IMHO....Guys like him are needed to make folks talk and keep it interesting, or ufc would be going the way of boxing, people want more action and smashing nowadays...:)

People want it only because they lack the intelligence to understand the complexities of what they are witnessing.
It's easier to understand a slugfest than it is the artistry involved in a true martial arts. Even wrestling from a competitive standpoint has tones of artistry involved. Cavemen want smashing. Intelligent folk want more otherwise it's just boxing.
I am more amazed by the guy who can reel off submission attempt after submission attempt than the guy who can throw down.
The problem is the skill-level gap is wide in a few divisions. GSP has no competition and neither does Silva. How are they supposed to make a fight look entertaining to the average caveman when they are so head and shoulders above their competition?
I'm not a fan of the hoopla in MMA. I would much prefer to watch skilled practitioners that think three moves ahead than a hammerfist beatdown any day. What's next, masks and capes?

Nate, while you make great points....You and i both know you like a good ol slugfest....You bs your friends, ill bs mine....But, lets not bs each other....You are correct, although i dont buy it for a milisecond;)....
I am not caveman, nor are many of my peers and friends, and i friggin love the action, and so does the majority of viewers...While yes i appreciate the art of it all, as i was a member of the society, i still also love the antics and the action....
I hope there is no capes and masks however, hopefully it wont go there......

Hate brock Lesnar all you want. He has beat the crap out of every "MMA EXPERT/technician" that has stood before him.
He's a primal beast.
All this talk about Cave men.. what do you think fighting is all about.. slapping eachother with a glove and dueling at 20 paces?.. **** that.. bring on the rage and the smashing and the straight as a stick knockouts.
Nobody really wants to watch fight after fight of guys laying on eachother dry-humping eachother into submission. The only way that soft core porn is interesting is with two evenly matched jujitsu guys.
i think the only hate felt for brock is due to his attitude. he has beat up a much much smaller old man randy couture and beat mir once and lost against him once. i think the carwin fight will answer a lot of questions.
nate's post addresses what you are saying about boring fights and the skill sets at play in MMA.
i think brock does a great job of playing the villain and he is a smashing machine no doubt. i am really looking forward to his next match up.

i think you're right, i don't disagree with you at all. i just meant that i feel royce and the gracie family have done more to promote MMA than brock can. brock brings in a new fan base, big numbers and spices things up for sure but gracie put mma into our living rooms. brock is especially great for dana and the fertitta brothers.
i was only mentioning Silva as an example of a true mixed martial artist. MMA is still young and evolving (exponentially), guys like GSP and Silva are leaders. jeet kun do was only formed in 1967 and it is one of the most respected martial arts.
i got $20 on carwin;) .........

They can make the fights much more entertaining by finishing their fights.
Has anyone considered the fact that Carwin trains part time and holds down a full time "reg" job? I wonder if he will step up the training for this one?
If he concentrates more on training rather than having a normal life I think Carwin takes it.
Really who has Brock faced? A washed up Couture, Hearing and Soo Kim???? And he got beat by Mir once and whooped him the next.
At least Carwin has Gonzaga under his belt.

I am well aware the fighters could be 20 lbs heavier(or more)on fight day.Mir apparently muscled up by close to 10 lbs from when he last fought Brock.Where is the weight distributed?Carwin managed to keep Mir pinned against the cage, obviously he has a good strength base.No more undersized old men like Randy for Brock.Anyhoo we all have some caveman in us.:)
