Seen my Doc. this morning and here are the results that he was concerned about:
LDL 4.3
Cholesterol 6.28
Test 114.3
Everthing else was well within normal range... He just about shit when he seen the Test result. Being that he's a Doc. i'm assumeing he's overly cautious?? He was also concerned about my Cholesterol level...
First time doing this so i'm interested in what everyones take is on the results?

Faller this is from my last bloodwork in Jan.
LDL should be between 1.5 and 3.4 mmol/L
Cholest should be between 2.0 and 5.2 mmol/L
so your numbers are high
test is subjective based on age and HRT so this is where my help ends
hope this helps
my cholesterol was F'd too.. whats your HDL level? thats whats most important, im pretty sure

He didn't say. He only wanted to talk about the levels that he felt were too high, and i only wrote these numbers down.
He gave me this food guide to go over to change up my diet and to go back and see him in a few months. Thing is we eat better than what is recommended in that guide. Like my wife said "we could write a book on how to eat"..
I'm going to make an appointment to go back next week, no point waiting since there's nothing i can do on my end..

You have to keep an eye on your levels as in the long run they can really mess up your health. Yours are out of wack and depending on your age can have a serious impact on your health. Good luck.

Still including deca in your HRT?
Yes, 150 a week.
Yes, 150 a week.
Isn't therapeutic around 25 mg a week?

First i've heard of that. All the reading i did suggested 150 and that going over that amount made no difference...
Like L3 said HDL is the good cholesterol and that is more important the even the total cholesterol.
I'm not sure how much Omega 3 oils you take in daily , but maybe increase that .
We've seen your pictures and you are far from out of shape. Stress levels can also play a part in your numbers.
This is something I just read .
The ratio of HDL/LDL looks at the ratio of good cholesterol (HDL) to bad cholesterol (LDL). The ratio is determined by dividing the LDL cholesterol into the HDL cholesterol. For example, if a person has an HDL cholesterol of 50 mg/dL and an LDL cholesterol of 150 mg/dL, the HDL/LDL ratio would be 0.33. The goal is to keep the ratio above 0.3, with the ideal HDL/LDL ratio being above 0.4.
So HDL plays a big role in determing your cholesterol health. The Dr. should have given you that number.

Thanks Talo, i'm going to take those numbers to the doc.. I've only just started (yesterday) takeing fish oil. I've never bothered to before since we eat salmon about 2 to 3 days a week, but apparently at my age i probably need more... As for stress, i probably have the most stress free life i could possibly imagine. Semi retired, my kid takes care of the buisness, my wife makes a shitload of money,,,,,,,,, i'm preeeeetty layed back :p

Try some Red Yeast Rice, got mine from the health food store 3 months ago and my Total Cholesterol went from 7.2 to 5.5. Its works just as well as statin at bringing down the LDL Cholesterol, you can add in some Omega 3s and that should take care of the HDL.

So you can still buy it here in Canada? I see its illigal "to sell red yeast rice that contains more than trace amounts of the cholesterol-lowering substances and to promote red yeast rice for lowering cholesterol levels" in US.
Did you change anything else in your diet or just add the red yeast rice?

I upped my cardio, increased veggies and mostly lean chicken and fish consumption and stopped all fast food. If you are in Toronto you can buy Red Yeast Rice from Healthy Planet health food store (Google Healthy Planet for a location near you). Its banned but most health food stores still carry it they just hide it behind the counter. I also use L-Carnitine (which is also banned but still available) and Omega 3s and this has really decreased my LDL and increased the HDL. My personal experience with Prescription Cholesterol lowering meds - Statins - was not pleasant at all. I experienced severe muscle and joint pains and a big drop in strength and stamina and I tried 3 different kinds - Crestor, Lipitor and Zocor and none was without problems. Also recent studies published on Medscape and WebMD shows Statins lowers testosterone and it can make you impotent.
Ya i'm in the health field, and you should try to get your LDL down by half.As for the cholesterol you can drop it by half as well.Salmon oil caps help drop them, but to what exact number i don't know, since they never study on Gear patients, but regular people it will drop it by 35%.My levels were shot, and when i finally came off gear, and took the fish oil (4 grams ed),and keep the cardio up (30min low speed),it is now finally in the lower range now.It took me 8 months to get my levels back to normal levels.
