So today after 3 days off I hit the weights again - it was a rough weekend.

Upper body push pull!

I was feeling not at the top of my game but decided to see how much I could push anyways.

I did my warm up sets with kneeling rope pull downs+bench press

After 4 sets I switched to Bench press+ pull ups

My pull ups where junk as I was killing myself to do 5 reps with body weight

But I ended up pushing 230X2 at set #8.

I believe that I could do it due to being well nourished, supplements but mainly to the fact that the pull ups where helping my CNS to shut down my chest and help with recover.

Am I crazy? Overanalizing or oversseing anything?:shock

A period of rest allowed for super compensation... you just discovered a bit about 'peaking' lol

pullups shutting down chest, no.. just being overly recovered!

I though about peking and supercompensation as well but not feeling that recovered.

Last week I was was quite tired hit a Pr one day did a spinning class and 3 hours of volleyball that evening, next day I hit a PR squatting and was done for the week.

Them 2 horrible nights of sleep and feeling wiped Sunday and Monday.

Still feeling my legs not 100% today.

The main thing is that lately I'm pushing a crap load of weight and not going over 5 reps no matter how heavy or not the bar is.

Thanks

For competitions i train through (sprinting) the taper is only a day or two, and i often dont feel '100%' but put out PB times. Feeling does/doesnt mean a lot, i have put out PB's in the middle of the most strenuous days, and yet SOMETIMES i fail to do so on days i feel rested. Usually though, if i feel rested, as long as it isnt like REALLY rested where i haven't been training (which is never), i can put out max numbers in the gym or times.

You should develop a program that allows you to maximize what you have just found out. (most programs/outlines of workouts etc do but tune it to yourself)

Umm... mostly like just taking 3 days off.

But honestly, there are so many things that it could be that you haven't listed, as well as your form possibly improved to just about 100 other things... it's kinad hard to say.
