Alot of people do this and it bugs me. If you`re not going to look me in the eye when you shake my hand, then don`t bother. Does anyone else think this way? I`ve noticed alot of people do this these days. I think it`s impolite and shows a general lack of class.

It's a bad habit I have.. I look at the hand to make sure I make proper contact for a firm handshake, but then I sometimes forget to look back up to make eye contact.
Something I'm trying to work on personally, as I agree it reflects poorly on the person doing it.
I also find limp handshakes quite offensive. I'd say more people are guilty of this than they are of not making eye contact.

yes handshakes need practice. Some are too soft, but then again those mother****ers that like to clench your hand and try to rip your arm from your socket are annoying also. Guys always try to do this to me because of the "bodybuilding" and like to show what they`ve got...

Why in the **** would I want to shake some other dudes hand? I know what he does with that hand when he's alone so do I want to touch it......NO WAY.
Give it to me in writing or **** off. Hand shakes use to be about trust and honor, but now a days it's just a formality so no thanks.

It's all about respect and acknowledgment.
Give you what in writting ? You think that he's talking about making a deal or something ?
Ritch , I think alot of it has to do with the fact that the people spend to much time online and they are not use to face to face contact.
I notice that some people have a hard time looking me in the eye while talking not just hand shaking. Some have a hard time keeping a conversation in person , but get them online ( fb ) and they will spend hours in a private chat .

The lack of eye contact I get from people while talking to them is another pet peeve of mine. I can`t pin point when this started to be acceptable in this society, but that totally shows lack of kooth. In the service industry you get that all the time. They say stuff at you, but not to you. Huge difference and really shows lack of character. And I wonder why I consider myself antisocial, lol.

I prefer not to shake hands. Most of you guys spend too much time rubbing your balls and scratching your ass.

Again, well said... And the whole routine of the kiss on the cheek done on each side we have here in "queerbec" I could do without as well. I swear I wipe off a shit tone of make up off my face when I`m done work because of this. A simple head nod should be the international sign of hello and another for goobye.

This bugs me too more so when Politicians do this as just a brush off to the crowd. Not so bad if you are greeting someone and talking with them, but if you shake as your walking by it's BS. If you shake my hand at least acknowledge me.
Yah, almost as bad as a girl that doesn't make eye contact when she's ............

Remember that part in "Blue Streak":shock....lol
God that was funny:p
I have to shake peoples hands all day long, I sell high-end cars so it's a pretty mandatory thing. I think I have it perfected now.
