a buddy of mine told me about this app that runs in the background. basically it's suppose to block unwanted access from other computers, like your ISP and hopefully try to keep them from throttling your net speeds. Now the reason I'm asking is that i just started using it with my torrent program and i think it's making my downloads faster, but i wanted to know if anyone knew of any possible downside to using the program. and no, i have nothing to do with the company and it's a free program to use

I've never heard of peerblock but that ^ statement defines any firewall that comes default with most OS's. Enable your firewall and you can get the same protection. As for throttling of torrents, 2 or 3 years ago, rogers started heavily throttling my torrent traffic, were talking unusable speeds(5kB/s). Couple months after that, the major torrent clients start offering encryption features. As soon as i forced encryption for every connection, my speeds went back to normal. utorrent is the client i currently use.
