Hey guys, track and field season is coming up and I'm participating in Shotput and Discus. I have a pretty solid program not directed towards exact those movements but hit the muscles involved in an explosive manner. I was just wondering what stretches I should do to include basically my whole body. I'm willing to dedicate a rest day to just sit down for 20-30 minutes and stretch out my whole body, this will also help my flexibility on bulks too. Keep in mind I DO stretch after exercises too so. Thanks guys.

t-nation has some good articles on this. Check out Mike Robertson on that site. If you want more detail and explanations for the stretches, youtube is a good place.

But I would consider doing 20-30 minutes of stretching every day, even if you do some after your workout. But that`s just me, a 30 something year old banged up somewhat jacked bodybuilder is saying...

look into dynamic stretching and mobility drills. research static stretch for hip flexors, IT band, iliopsoas, piriformis.

I found this. It's directed towards Hockey Players, but I figured I could at LEAST use the lower body stretches. I was unsuccessful in finding static stretches for the IT band, iliopsoas, and piriformis, bummer.

Anyways here's the link.

I did google them man. I googled the part, then static stretch, and it produced a shitload of results, just nothing reliable. All just information not even regarding the stretching.

I complete agree with Ritch. Stretching has worked wonders for every aspect of my workouts.
