So far they are 5-1 in spring training .

Will they make the playoffs this year ?

Seems like they always do alright at the beging of the year , but find a way to blow it . Not to mention that they are in the hardest divison.

Nope - they won't make the playoffs. I'd be happy if they don't finish last this year. I think this will be the worst year we have for a long time though. I see things improving from here with the injection of talented young ball players we have in the system now.

Glad the JP era is finally over! :D

agree they wont be last as baltimore will take that role again this year. but second to last is where they will be.

they just dont have the talent to challenge the sox and yankees

I wish they would move them to the Central Division.

Theres alot of uncertainties still with the club, I can see it being a long year.

I wish baseball would expand the playoffs and shorten the season by 15-20 games. Also wish they'd have a more balanced schedule so that we don't play Boston/NYY WAY more than say Seattle does...that would help our chances of getting a wild card spot. The teams in the Central/West have a much easier schedule than us.

Oh well...sucks to be Toronto :(

They will have a better win % than both the Argos and Leafs, lol. My favourite sports franchise sadly. I think JP was the worst GM in all of baseball, the guy didn't even live in Toronto or have an apartment there. Nothing but failure. He made Gord Ash look like a genius.
This year is a true rebuilding year. The only way they'll finish above .500 is if |Vernon has a good season and the young pitching staff can pitch beyong their expectations. Hill will duplicate his great 2009 season and I think Lind can hit 30 hrs and drive in 100 runs. They will finish ahead of the Orioles but that's it.

i love the jays, but i agree. they will finish ahead of the O's and maybe ahead of the rays, depending on if vw can stay healthy and lind and hill are at their best. but we will see.

Jays will fill the bottom with the O's.

1.New York Yankees -
2.Boston Red Sox -
3.Tampa Bay Rays -
4.Baltimore Orioles -
5.Toronto Blue Jays-

I agree 100% with this article: http://www.mlbpredictions.org/american-league/east/
I see the TBRays as the wild card this year. Basically same exact team as last year except with another year of experience tacked on. Pitching, so long as it stays healthy will be phenomenal :Price, Shields, Soriano, Garza,Jeff Niemann
Offense will be solid:longoria, zobrist, pena, bartlett, crawford, (upton potential to bounce back from a shitty year in 2009)

Well , I'm going to say that the Jays will come second in their division. Either above the Yank's or Sox .

OPENING DAY

Well a lot of things went right today and look promising for the Jays despite a loss
giving up the lead in the Bottom of the 9th.
In my opinion Jason FRASOR is not a closer. You need a flamethrower 98-100mph or someone with that one devestating pitch Ex. Rivera (cutter) , Hoffman (Change up).
Frasor would be a good 7-8th inning set up man to face righties...thats it. They need a legit closer.

Missed the game , caught the highlights.

I agree 100% with UBC . Frasor needs to work on somethings or they need to get someone. Give them this month to get things figured out .

Glad to see Marcum back and stronger than ever.

06-04-2010, 06:09 PM
I'm not sure what Accardo did in the spring, but I have always liked his stuff as a potential closer. I don't think Frasor or Gregg are the long term solutions...

Marcum pitched amazing yesterday - got REALLY unlucky on that HR. It was a great pitch in a great spot, but unfortunately it ended up in the seats somehow. :(

If Wells can stay healthy it could be his year.

4 HR's and 7 RBI's in 3 games.

With all the trades going on this week hopefully they can stay healthy and rip it up in the playoffs - 2013 !!!

Yup, they will make the post season IF they can stay healthy. They have a winning lineup on paper anyhow. The two best back to back power hitters in MLB in Bautista and Encarnacion and now the most speed in MLB. Lawrie should improve at the plate with more patience and you gotta figure that Romero will be better. Adding two new great arms and Reyes is huge. Colby Rasmus bugs the shit outta me. He has some of the worst at bats I've ever seen. If it isn't an inside fastball at the knees he can't hit. Very low OBP for a center fielder . He has to be better. Never more excited though. Now they need a manager. I say CITO !

Thanks NHL lockout :(

I like that fact that they are finally adding talent to an already talented team. It's to hard for 1 or 2 guys to carry a team , stay healthy and make the playoffs. Now if 1 or 2 get injured the other guys will hopefully step it up.

I'd like to see Ozzie :)

Going to be headed to a hell of a lot more games this upcoming season than I did this past season.

I agree with Hosehead, they need to get rid of Rasmus. ANND theres always Michael Bourn as a free agent ;) He would make a amazing addition of speed and he's a great lead off hitter.

I see blue jays fighting for baltimore for division title BUT the yankees are going to pull the trigger soon on some big big moves....so realistically I see orioles, jays and yanks top of the division for 2013

Hosehead
18-11-2012, 07:06 PM
I think the Yanks will be good but IMO Baltimore can't play up to the level they did last year. Boston will plain suck and the Rays are in decline. Still by far the best division in MLB.

there is LOTS of hockey being played out there. AHL games, OHL Games, Junior B games... lots of hockey and just as entertaining if not more so then NHL hockey (outside of playoff hockey)

While they look good on paper, it's still only on paper! LOL

Still, should be a lot of fun to watch this year!

If they stay healthy they will kill it.

World Baseball Classic coming up next month. There will be a dozen of international phenoms that will be signed. Cuba has a few rocket arms throwing over 100 and japan apparently has a young ichiro like infielder....watch the yanks gobble up these guys....already bought my bluejays and yankees series tickets for safeco down in seattle
