Can a persons neck go out of place?
At the very base of my neck (just before my back begins) there is a bump that I never noticed before. My neck is killing me. I can't move without pain. WTF? I was reading with my head down and the next day this happens. Do I need to see a chiropractor to put it back in place or could the bump be swollen from an injury?
Im kinda nervous and it hurts like %$#@!

Put some ice on it. You may have strained the muscle. Rest it also. If it doesn't get better within the next few days, go see a doctor and he should give you an x-ray of your vertabrae in that area to make sure you haven't herniated a disk. I think it's just a strain though. And yes, they can be painful.

when you go asleep lay down in bed on your back with a pillow under neet your legs at the level of you knees and sleep like that all night, it could help.

Thanks guys. If it's not better in 2 days Im going to the doc. MP, do you think it could be a disk out of place?!!!? It does not feel straight. My neck feels like it "arches in like normal" and then "bumps out" down closer to the base. I don't remember that bump like that.

It'll go away with time but ya it sucks for now. I've seen chiros before when my neck hurt and they didn't help any. A nice massage might do the trick....if it doesn't get better in a week, I'd see a Doc but it really shouldn't be that serious.......come on it's a reading injury lol. Good luck!

Any update on the neck?
Its 85% better but that bump is still there. Maybe I always had it, but right above it is where the pain is and was.

I think we all have a bump at the base of the neck. If it bothers you too much, just go to the doc and get an xray. It can be easily seen if a disk is herniated that way.

Thats what I am worried about, but if it's getting better quickly it is probably not that.

Medicine is not a perfect science , i went to physio for shoulder problems only to find out that i had a 1st degree separated shoulder , man a chiro told me that after 2 months of failed physio , where you at? pm if wanted. not trying to discourage you bro but i would say go only to sports doctors as they deal with this shit constantly , just my opinion :)
