Hey guys, in about 3 weeks I'm going to be going on a compound lift program to gain some mass. This isn't going to be a basic gain though, I plan on staying fairly lean while doing it. This will be achieved through moderate intensity fasted cardio and a 3 day HIT split.
My diet is going to consist of about 5000 calories, a majority of which will be protein and fat. Carbohydrates will be cut off at 6pm. I'm going to continue taking whey isolate, but I will also be adding creatine monohydrate (w/gatorade powder) to the mix, as I've never actually tried creatine before and after talking with some people and searching around, this seems to be the best one to start with.
Now, I figured it to be about 4500 calories a day, but would you say if I hit the heavy bag 3-4 times a week, before or after dinner, that a 500 calorie increase up to 500 is a reasonable increase ? Or should I go higher due to the high intensity of boxing with a heavy bag.

I don`t know if this can work. Fasted cardio while bulking can work for you (although I wouldn`t), but the heavy bag work is pushing it. Your shoulders will tire out and it will affect your upper body training. I say choose the boxing or the fasted cardio.

What if I only box like once a week, but ONLY if I can arrange it so it's after my upper body recovery. AKA on weekends.
Workout A: Chest, Shoulders, Triceps, Back
Workout B: Biceps, Legs
These will be alternating with a day in between each workout, so if I go Monday, Wednesday, Friday, then take the weekend off, Sunday I should be able to hit it for about 30 minutes hey ? Without any negative effects..
Or would you recommend I do Monday, Tuesday, Rest, Thursday, Friday, Rest, Rest, Etc... ?
Are you boxing for competition? or are you boxing for a cut? Cutting carbs, and doing some DC, Dorrian, whatever style training will insure that you become a genuine punching bag when your coach calls you in the ring for sparring.

whats your weight right now that dictates you eating 4500-5000 calories? These lean bulks crack me up, why dont you just say you want to increase lean mass instead.

Because then if he says he wants to increase lean mass, somebody will come along and say "Why don`t you just say you want to lean bulk"
I don`t see why it cracks you up. Sometimes people do a bulk and get too fat then when it comes time to dieting the job is a pain in the ass. Which is why they lean bulk and they stay leaner as they bulk...

Ritch is dead on. Exactly what I'm going for.
I'm only boxing for recreation, it gives me something to do and I've noticed it cuts down my cravings of wanting to hit the gym again. I don't know if I should just increase my split to a 4 or 5 day, or if I should find some other activity to take part in.
I'm 5'9, 196. I talked with a member about calories and including my gym class in the morning, fasted cardio, training program and goals, 4500 seemed to be the right number.

I'll tell you why it cracks me up because its not bulking and not leaning. Seems like a lot of calories for a guy whos under 200lbs and getting in 5k calories a day clean wont be that easy.
I've got 40lbs on you and I'm bulking on 4300 calories which vary during the week when I have cheat meals.

Then how about a more conservative way to bulk? I think it`s called lean bulking but to guys like you it`s just bulking as you may do it in a specific manner. Guys might come up with the term lean bulking because at first when they bulked, they gained lots of fat (As for many bulking is just eating tons of shit) and decided to tone down the crazyness of the bulk and along came the term "lean bulk" Make sense?
Either way, nothing to lose sleep about...

I don`t know who you`re refering to with the "I`ve got 40 lbs on you" but say you weigh 250lbs and can acutally gain weight on 4300 cals, then that`s just great for you. That amount of cals dosen`t barely gets me to 230lbs. So is it the gear or the food that`s making you grow with such little cals?

Well I decided to throw the boxing out and just do it occasionally, and maybe just throw in an extra small protein-fat meal.
One more thing, I was told by a friend who has his personal training that during this next bunch of weeks I should be eating 2 chicken breasts etc etc. Like mass amounts of foods, well i only have a part time job. I can't afford to pay for chicken and salmon every week.
Is there an equally effective alternative, or a less effective one so I don't have to be a broke-ass for the next 5 months ?

Well damn...chicken breast is pretty much the cheapest thing you can get in terms of real sources of protein. You can get it for like 8.80$/kg when they're on sale...occasionally as low as 6.00$/kg but that's super rare.
In terms of cheap protein sources:
Chicken breasts on sale
Minute steaks
Eggs and egg whites (costo)
Tuna (buy either the 6 packs, or the mega 1kg can from Costo)
Protein Powder (look at our sponsors)
Carbs are generally cheap in general so that's easy.

Could be the diet, training, hormone manipulation....who knows, there are many variables to change to contribute to gains.
No I wasnt refering to you.
