Wondering how much protein powder you guys are using in a week on average? I just realized I am using around 2 pounds a week. Is that to much?

Not at all. There are many protein fasts out there that require 2LBS in 2-3 days. My "record" as it were was 22LBS in a single month. That was a fun diet to say the least! Make sure you've got your fluids, fiber, and fats keeping up with you though!

I also hope you're buying in bulk. 2LBS a week can be expensive if you pay "tub price."

I only take 8 scoops a week..right after my workout..so, only 288g a week..A 5LBS protein powder lenght me around 8 weeks..!;)

make sure you are getting most of your protein from whole food, shakes should be used to supplement your diet, not be it.

No, they sure won't. However, there are effective, scientific, and proven protein fasts that temporarily can be used in lieu of whole foods. However, these fasts are harmful if not done with great precision, observance, and care. It's much simpler to depend on whole foods, and a heck of a lot tastier as well. Not trying to argue, just pointing it out.

I go through 5 scoops a day so 5 pounds every 2 weeks so 2lbs a week is not bad at all. I just find that when you are eating 400+ grams of protein a day (400-450) I find it gets very expensive eating whole foods all the time. 2 out of my 6 meals a day consist of protein powder with a half scoop in my oatmeal twice a day.

I just find its hard eat that much whole food with out feeling really bloated. I always eat eggs for breakfast and a good source of protein/carbohydrates for dinner. But mainly in between is just shakes and maybe something small for a little carbohydrates. What should I be aiming for in carbohydrates when bulking; like grams per pound? Roughly cause i know everyone is different. Thanks

So you eat 2 meals a day plus shakes??? Wow.... whole food is not just about the protein, its about all the other god stuff that comes with, vitamins, minerals. the less the prosessed the better i say. BTW, what are you stats if you want any answers

I'm okay with the fact that proteins shake are good..Of course..I take 2 scoops right after my workout!...I'm agree with you that to eat more than 350 g of protein per day, it can be difficult and in this case, protein shake can be take more often!..but like I said, the supplement won't replace whole foods..but if you have a good nutrition with proper protein, carbs and fats..it's can be a must to have more shakes in a day..it's just my opinion!^^..But, it's depend of your goal, your weight...I'm only 166 LBS..so for me, I can eat 300g of protein a day without protein shakes!:P

With your stats..you can calcule you BMR and after, if you want to put some mass...Eat more calories...i'll put the way that you can calculate your BMR:

BMR = 66 + (13.7 X pounds ins KILOS) + (5 X height in CM) - (6.8 X AGE)

Notes:
1 inch = 2.54 cm.
1 kilograme = 2.2 lbs.

multiply your BMR by one of these 5:

- sedentary, s: BMR X 1.2

- a little active (little exercices/sports 1-3 day/week) : BMR X 1.375

- moderate active (moderate exercice/sports 3-5 day/week) : BMR X 1.55

- very actives (hard exercises/sports 6-7 day/week) : BMR X 1.725

- very,very active (every day, hard exercice/sports & physical work ou 2X train per day) : BMR X 1.9

The BMR give you the numbers of calories you need daily to maintain you weight!

Some guy told me that protein powder creates some sort of shellach like substance that coats your intestines and makes it harder you you to absorb nutrients.

Have any of you heard this?

I've seen you mention it before, and have wondered if it's true. I think if one takes enough fiber in a day, it probably isn't much of a concern.

I consumer 3 scoops in 2 shakes a day.

I tend to have two shakes per day as soon as I wake up and right after the gym.
Me and wife usually go thru roughly 3 lbs a week
