What are some thoughts. Good idea? bad idea? waste?
hypothetically lets say 12 week cycle, eat like a pig for 6, adjust caloric intake, cut for 6. Or go maybe 8/4?
thoughts..........

I beleive old school bulking meant you had to eat like a pig and get fat to put on as much muscle as possible. If you have your diet in check and go into your cycle lean (15% or less preferably) you can stll pack on beef without fat. Any cycle is not going yeild massive amounts of muscle, even pros put on 10 or less a year but over time. I look at it as a marathon not a sprint.

I think you can put on LBM without bulking. Diet has to be perfect.

Yes it can be done. Lots of lean protein and the right carbs at the right time.

Eating like a pig and putting on unnecessary bulk is just going to make it that much harder to take it off. Gus' is right, time your nutrients properly and you can lean down and add mass, just dont set your expectations too high as it takes time to build alot of muscle.

Not that it pertains to you, but i see alot of guys use bulking as an excuse for poor nutrition and laziness.

The secret is to bulk in the winter since your not running around half naked as you would be in the summer....and keep the cutting for the summer.

This cycle I cut aggressively for the first 4 weeks(daily cardio and 1800 cal/day diet), and for the final 8 weeks I am bulking, and planning a full-blown cutter for summertime. Both phases worked very well.

I only did it this way since I was very unhappy with how fat I was after Xmas and it's always more motivating to see my gains happen instead of having them hidden under fat.

By the way, I am using 3.3iu of GH with 75mcg T4 along with my cycle and I'm losing a substantial amount of fat even while bulking(up 15-20lbs), but my diet is clean and high-calorie.

Yes i'm paying for it right now, don't know i will be ready for my show since i put on to much fat in the off-season over a 2 years period.I did eat good but it was the snacks between the meal that did it for me.Just cutting the snacks i lost 20 pound in 6 months.

LOl, I hear ya bro. I used to be a firm believer in dessert after every meal. Had to put a stop to that quick.

Snacks between your big 3 meals are important. As long as they aren't snacks like chips, chocolate bars, etc.. Healthy ones like almonds for example curb that craving of absolutely having to eat anything and keep your metabolism going.

For this thread, I don't see a whole lot of point of eating like a pig and storing tons of fat then cutting calories to lose it again. Seems pointless compared to keeping a good clean diet the whole way through. As it's already been said, you can get some pretty good gains without turning yourself into a fatass.

crazy, I take it they were not rice cakes and penutt butter! I just got back intoit and em 250 and bench 225 so one of my goals is to drop 25 pounds leaner and bench 250 to 300. but I'm leaning down right now so there will be no bulking at this moment.

I eat 8 times a day in the off-season,and eat when i wake up during the night. But it was chocolate bars,or ice cream. That did it for me,but after this show i will do the same,i love my food, like Lee Priest. But before this i eat very clean for 9 hard years needed a break.

MMMM I miss those chocolate bars and ice cream. The cold treats are the hardest to resist with summer coming up!

I just did a short 2-month bulker, which was old-school all-out. I started at 215 6% and went up to 246 in just 2 months. I put on fat, I put on muscle. The main thing is, I felt like crap. Out of breath, high blood pressure, can't bend down, bleh.

Slow and easy does it for me now, of course if you are 6' and 140lbs the above may not apply... ;)
