I find by far the easiest way to get lean and preserve muscle is on a keto diet, with one cheat meal a week. Over the last 2 years, my body has adapted, and quickly and shifts into keto-mode when I stop eating carbs.

I am now back on my keto diet, but I'd like to get back into playing racquetball, which is high intensity cardio. I'm not very big and cannot afford to lose any muscle mass. Is there a way that I could eat a single dense meal of purely complex carbs before the high intensity cardio sessions? Would this be enough to avoid muscle loss? How many hours beforehand does the body need to have those carbs?

Around 1 to 2 hours before you'll play racquetball, you can eat a baked potatoes or brown rice..They aren't a high GI...so, the time the body will digest them...When you'll begin your workout, you'll have full energie because of those complex carbs ;-)

according to me, That's will be enough if you have some complex carbs with protein before your racquetball to avoid muscle loss...

If I'm not okay, anybody can tell me!^^

In keto carbs make me tired as ****, I would'nt bother with it. After your game you could have 20-40g of dextrose + 50g whey to help with rercovery. But you would have to see if this takes you out of keto

The modified quasi-keto that I do is to do the typical fat/protein split, but I integrate beans and vegetables to a larger extent for my carb intake. I avoid potatoes, grains, and non-bean starches. Seems to work really well for me thus far. Let me know if you have any more questions about it, because this modification/tweak doesn't seem to have much of a following.

Palumbo actually customized a modified version of his keto diet for MMA fighters.
I remember reading the template and his little online article a few months back. It would be worth doing a search for online and on rxmuscle.com
