I wasn't around this evening so couldn't take care of it. When it happens, I'll remove it for a bit. It seems to happen when their server load is high.

adblock+ works great

It's certainly not a consistent problem. Sometimes everythings fine and then others, bleah.

They either need more bandwidth or a different provider.

Actually they need to force the layout of the banner before they run the script so the rest of the page will be able to load. I will take a closer look at the code of their script to see if I can help them tweak it to run smooth. If it continues to give us problems, I will ask only for a static banner and link.

NO Scripts plugin for Firefox works.

As you can see, MP, people's solution to a slow banner is to remove them altogether.
Not a good solution if you happen to be selling the service.

Incorrect.

People, where possible, will attempt to remove advertising. It's not the load factor affecting people disabling banners. It's the advertising aspect altogether which people are removing.

If I'm incorrrect why are people recommending that I put in an ad blocker to solve this little problem?

I don't generally waste effort. If I have a reason to add another piece of shit addon to my browser I will but it's not something I would have considered doing without the delays.

I dunno. Why do people tivo TV programs and fast forward through the commercials if they're trying to avoid advertising?

I work in marketing and advertising. I know what I'm talking about here. It isn't the load speed that people are attempting to avoid (some... maybe but most sites these days test their advetising to ensure there no load time issues). They are attempting to avoid being continually blanketed with ads.

I guess I'm not people. Oh well, you must be right and the reason I'm going to add an ad blocker has nothing to do with the god damned lagging add.

Thanks for correcting me.

You should stop dieting (or living in general) as its affecting your ability to think.

Only an ego the size of yours would believe HE is a singular in the plural of people but whatever. You may be considering an adblocker for the lagging reason but the majority of people do not use adblockers for site load/speed problems. The majority do it to avoid advertising altogether.

Does that make more sense to you?

Thank you again for your, innate ability not only to tell me what I'm thinking and why but also to solve my emotional and personal needs.

Your vast experience in marketing and advertising has resolved all of my issues and I am now at peace with the universe.

.... The isssue and topic at hand is that a specific piece of advertising is causing the site to delay in loading to the browser and that the solution (install and ad blocker) is a bad solution both for MP and the Vendor's. Your ability to entirely miss the point simply points out that you likely missed breakfast and that you are a bit of an asshole.

cheers.

No. I',m a huge asshole but that's neither here nor there. People who don't wish to see advertising will install blockers. It's only a small % of the population like you who will install them to alleviate site loading problems that one may experience.

Your issues are minor to MP and his vendors. Those who use adblockers to avoid advertising ARE a problem to MP and his vendors but as usual your ego gets in the way of the big picture and you fail to understand basic human behaviour and think only of yourself since you believe the the plural of people pertains to the singular of you. It must suck going through life being an analytical snob with no people or social engineering skills. A real life of the party you must be :rollseyes

I'm done.
