View Full Version : Brachioradialis Injury
So I injured my brachioradialis several months ago doing heavy pinwheels and it's really starting to hinder my workouts. I've started trying to rehab it with very light concentration hammer curls, massage, and stretching but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how they rectified it? Any help is much appreciated. :)

Have you tried letting it heal? Sorry but denial seems to be prevalent in injury rehab.
RICE, MEAT, and Starr's Rehab Protocol.

I don't know what you mean by denial since I'm well aware that I have an injury that needs to be addressed, but yes I tried letting it heal for some time but it just returns after a while. Thanks for the lead on the Starr Rehab. :)

Denial would be continuing to work through the annoying nagging pain for a couple of months because it's bound to go away.
Been there done that, bought the t-shirt.
Sometimes you need to back off and fix the damn thing.
Take a week off arms.
Ice 3 times a day
Wear a light tensor bandage at night
Keep it higher than your heart when you sleep.
after your little rest
M obility stretch gently and firmly into the pain, don't tweak it but do stretch it every day a few times a day
E xercise - bill starr's rehab protocol rocks. The detailed version in his book the strong will survive is priceless.
Analgesic - I like rub a535 while massaging the shit out of it then ice ice ice
Therapy - self massage aggressively every couple of days then more ice
... did i mention ice?

I had this same problem...And yes the "denial" technique seems to have worked for me. Not always the case, I guess you could make it worse by working through it, but for me, i've had 3-4 injuries that prevented working 100% (more like 50%) and I tried the whole rest thing....didn't work at all. For me, it was just time I needed, and time wasn't really affected whether I worked through it or not.
Mind you I didn't "deny" it to the point where I cried after each workout, but did push it until I knew it was time to let up.
I should mention my brachioradialis pain started last april. I couldn't do a front double bicep, so basically flexing my right arm in any way wasn't happening. Its now 9 months, and I would say its 80% better. Tried ART with 3 different people, massage, acupuncture, the whole bit....nothing helped more than for an hour or so. That's when I just decided to let it run its course, and warmed up more with it, and worked out with it as much as I could and let it run its course.
Thanks for your responses fellas. :)

Hey PdH, I had this injury as well, I attended physiotherapy, ultrasound and acupuncture, I ended up having to lay off for a full 5 months and fully recovered. I usually can work through most injury but this was the one case that I couldn't. My advice on this one, take it real easy until its fully recovered.
I gotta spread the green around guys. Sorry. It's gonna be hard though cause I don't really like very many people on here........JK. :ne :D
