So I was reading some of the mens posts and I am hearing that some of them have to push to hit 130 for a heartrate. I am wondering what the women on here hit during cardio or think is a good rate for cardio?? I normally try to be around 140 well doing cardio and can hit that easy.
thanks:fback:fback

i doubt I hit that high for the whole duration of my cardio...
generally speaking... I do 10 minute light bike , then 10- 20 minutes hard bike intervals, then my workout... then when I do my "cardio" it's medium intensity... so enought o break a sweat and breath a little heavy, but usually about level 5-7 80-100 prm's... I don't really go my heartrate.

I am not a woman but i figured id answer you, 140 should be easy to hit, i hit 140 going light on the bike, when i push it i can keep my heart rate above 175 for over 30 minutes, when im doing sprints it is around 190.

I went on a bike with a heart rate thinggy... I guess I sit around 125-145 for most of my "cardio"... intensity will increase closer to comp I think.. right now that's what they want me doing

I keep my HR at 70% of max which is optimal for fat burning. Age is a major factor in what your target will be. As I get closer to contest, I go from level 3 on the elliptical to a level 8...
I have to work harder to get to the 70%, as my fitness level increases.

heart rate is a very individual thing. And it also depends alot on current fitness levels.
For example, when I swam, I could hit a heart rate of 200 doing a good set. When I biked, I could hold a heart rate of 180+ for over an hour and not even feel tired. Last year, I was a little out of cardiovascular shape, and if I hit 160 I feel like the world is coming to an end. Now, I am a little better, and can hold 130 doing medium intensity for an hour and carry a conversation and burn about 12-13 calories per minute.
As leanne said above, as your fitness level increases , you have to worker harder to get to the 70%. But this should not be confused with being more exhausted...When you're fitness level increases you can go faster at the same heart rate, but you can actually sustain a higher heart rate without being as tired.

I'm mostly trying to hit the max of 158 and stay there for the whole cardio activity which i mostly do 45 min each.
