Hey guys/gals...
Been out of the game for about 2 years due to school (was working out, just not regularly or seriously). I packed on a lot of fat and loss muscle while at it, damnit!

Anyhow, really kicking my ass in the gym in the past 2 weeks or so...but right now I am away from home and don't have my handy little Tanita scale to monitor my BF% (I know it's innacurate in absolute terms, but it's nice to track progress). Anyhow, before I left two weeks ago, my home scale showed me 195lbs at 18-19%. I've been using the Palumbo diet for the past 2 weeks. Today,I found out the gym I am currently using (a very shitty college gym) has a Tanita scale so I secretly borrowed it to measure myself (I set it at male athlete) and it gave me 185 @ 11.5%.

No way do I believe I lost 7.5-8.5% in two weeks. I'm thinking it might be that my scale at home isn't set to "male athlete" or that one of the two is seriously miscalibrated. I did notice a nice drop in BF% from the mirror but I have no clue how to quantify it.

Anyone wanna take a stab at how much my BF% is currently? It doesn't show as well in the picture, but my top 2 abs are showing...

EDIT: My guess is about 16% ?

your geuss is good i'd say 16% +/-2 your serratus is showing - usually wouldn't show until below 15% anyway - pic is hard to tell

We all hold fat differently from person to person but to generalize things IMO when you're sides (Oblique fat) are gone you're getting below 15% and abs outlining nicely 10%.

So you're saying since I still have love handles I'm likely >15%?

somewhere around 15 maybe a little higher maybe a touch lower. You might be secretly hiding jennifer lopez's butt in the back.

Haha, that made me laugh!
And no, I got a small muscular butt...if you wanna believe what my girlfriend says. Typical male fat distribution, abdomen and waist..

Exactly. ^^
I also find calipers much more accurate than any tanita scale. I paid 220 bucks for one to tell me i was obese...returned it right away lol.

I would go with about 14%..maybe a tad higher.Your biceps are coming out nice and your abs are starting to show. But it think most agree that you're near the 15% mark

just a heads up, the tanita "athlete" setting is a joke...don't use it. its for marathoners and tanita recommends it only for people with a resting heartrate of well below 60bpm.

Also my tanita has to be setup with height as well...not sure if your does or not. If you drop the 'athlete' setting you'll find it puts your probably 5% higher.

i would say 12-15 and honestly if your not doing shows thats an excellent leaness to stay at all year round. Im about the same right now and i just started my diet and its not much to lose. Im not a caliper but i say 12,13%.

Thanks for all the replies people, guessing im sitting at 15% right now wouldn't be so bad I guess.

Now let's put a little twist on this thread...
Judging from the picture, what would you guys recommend I do?

A) Keep cutting for another 8-10 weeks hopefully reaching 10% or less and then start bulking using a 3-4 day split (considering a push, pull, legs 5x5 routine done mon/tues/thurs/fri) with approx 5000 clean calories per day.

B) Or I can start bulking right away..using the split/diet mentionned above.

GOAL: Short term goal would be to have a nice lean physique for the summer as I have 5 consecutive weeks off, without losing too much muscle mass. My long-term goal (over years) would be to reach 220-230 at 8-10%BF (I'm 6'0").

Here's the picture again..

Summer is not that far away. I say either or. But if you start cutting now, you can do it nice and slow to ensure you mass is kept. But if you continue to bulk, you have about 2 months to do so. What kind of improvements do you think you can accomplish in this time. You will need to be very specific if you plan on keeping up the bulk.

I would keep cutting if i were you.

Your bulking plan...well thats another story.
