After reading the Keg thread, curious what others would recommend... here's some of my tops...
And go by food quality, not experience...
Nuances in Montreal... in the casino actually...
Le Charlevoix at Fairmont Richelieu ...
Jump on York, Toronto....
Grill room... ritz carlton, Naples Fl.
Trulucks for crab/lobster... naples, Fl (this place has their customer service down.. waiters had their own cards... and even called me for followup the next day)...
Koi.. Las Vegas and LA.. hands down best sushi i've EVER had, and i eat it all the time....

Actually when I was a kid, we lived in Germany for 4 years and went to many fancy places. The place I can remember being totally unique, was a restaurant in a castle, where we ate outside, were high up and had a spectacular view. Very fancy indeed. The waiter didn`t even write down what we were eating which I found impressive.

i'm not a fan of overly creative new age places, where everything has a coulis or balsamic reduction and finished with their own chiptole sauce ........and if you can find something normal on the menu like a burger it has goat cheese with arugula, sprouts and a sunflower seed bun - all of which is routinely described with one word -AMAZING!

There is a really nice italian restaurant on the main drag in Banff the name escapes but I have eaten almost the entire menu, Chateau Lake Louise of course, The chalet at Emerald Lake, Bob's steak house dallas (kind of a barrroom atmosphere but surreal meat). Hy's used to be on my list for the prime rib but while the prices have gone up the meal quality has gone down.
Best burger experience of all time goes to a restaurant called nepenthe on the pacific coast highway just south of carmel. 300 foot cliff with a balcony. spectacular view.

Wickaninnish Inn, Toffino... Ordered a Oyster appy, $21.00 and you get litterally one oyster! Food is amazeing but be prepared to walk out of there broke... There's another restruante right in Toffino, i forget the name, that we ate at for New Years, just as good as the wickaninnish, but much more affordable.

Ha ha! $21 for 1 oyester. Did they charge you by the pea and bread crumb as well?
I ate once in this extremely nice resort hotel in Maui but I cant remember the name of the hotel or the restaurant inside it. Unreal food.

What was really funny is the wife and me usually share the appy. We've had tons of oysters in other restruants and we didn't want to "fill" up on the appy's because we wanted to try out the menue.. We pissed ourselves laughing when the "oyster" showed up.
