Do you take an electrolyte supplement? Is it necessary for heavy trainers?

no supplements are necessary for training. However electrolyte aid in rehydration so if you sweat a lot during your workouts you may want to pound back half a gatorade. It is more for active rehydration ei climbing a mountain, this way you can aid rehydration immediately rather than waiting for normal bodily processes to rehydrate lost water. If your workout are spaced a day apart and your drink water and injest salt in your foods you will be fine.

that makes sense, kinda what i figured but was asked about it so i thought id check in here. i do sweat a lot when i workout, but i do drink plenty of water.. though sometimes i tend to forget. diet is fairly low in sodium though.

was looking at this product:
http://www.traceminerals.com/products/stamina.html

probably unnecessary as you say.

I don't trust anything that says Vegan on it. I like trace amounts of dead animal to be in everything I eat. I get a lot of electrolytes from sea salt and bananas. I'm sure a multi vit/mineral would help too if you arn't already taking one.

I honestly doubt you need anything more than gatorade as far as electrolyte supps go.

I don't drink Gatorade or any other commercial beverage for that matter.

In that case you`d could add some potasium (maybe a crushed pellet) and some salt to your drink. But I really doubt it`s needed. I used gatorade for the dextrose...

useful for a runner. pointless for a weight lifter.
