I got sick with a strange bug, and was sick for a bit, but I survived. Might have been H1N1.... might not have been.

It's actually sad to see millions of people rushed to get the H1N1 vaccine without even really knowing what the use of it was. The media and the government created a fear of the flu and lots of people jumped on the H1N1 bandwagon hoax. Never got the H1N1 shot, knew from the beginning this was a scam. What really bothers me is how easily the media can control the population and how the pharmaceutical industry has immense power and influence. This is why I tend to avoid buying everything my doctor prescribes to me. Everyone makes ridiculous amounts of money off of these drugs.

Well...if you really want me to explain how vaccines are different than antibiotics I could but I was hoping you would look into it for yourself.

In the event that something like H1N1 mutates into a more virulent virus (like the Spanish Flu). Having the shot may provide some protection because your body's immune system will respond better to the virus. It may not help but getting a vaccine does not make viruses worse. It just exposes a person to a "dead" form of the virus so that when exposed to the real virus it's more like seeing it for the 2nd time vs. the first. Your immune system is better able to fight off things it has been exposed to before.

is it a coincidence that this flu was so overhyped at almost the exact moment of the economic meltdown? not at all.

CI is right. it was used as a distraction from the banking crisis and also as way of generating / stimulating profits for big business in a time that everyone was losing their shirt.

I had H1N1 during hockey camp at school and I only missed one practice because I was so light headed. It was bad, but not THAT bad. It prolly ****ed me out of my spot as a winger though.

you got a good point. there are other things to worry about. and yes, there is tuns of money to be made by pharmaceuticals with the vaccine.

I didn't get the vaccine, neither did my wife and kid. Yes we're alive. but we likely would have survived regardless if we got the swine flu. You people have to realize that the whole point to any vaccine is not to stop 99% of the population from dying...Its an attempt to contain something where a very small proportion of people may die.

There was actually over 6000 confirmed deaths from swine flu. And I am sure that there are LESS deaths because of the vaccine. Just think, if even 10% of the population were vaccinated, that's about 3 million canadians. and of those, let's pretend that the vaccine is only 50% effective. So 1.5 million people are now immune. so take a very very small fraction of people who actually get the swine flu. I dunno, let's go extreme at 1/1000 (it's actually WAY higher)....So we have 1500 people who now don't get it. of those 1500, let's say 1% had a prexisting conditiongs (pregnancy for example)....so we have 15 people who's lives were saved.

Tell those 15 people the vaccine wasn't worth it. PS: I downsized all the numbers...its actually way more lives saved. The negatives...well, maybe 1 in a million get GBS, the pros outweight the cons.

The biggest reason I didn't get the vaccine is because I am 99% sure I had swine flu.

I just hate seeing a whole thread talk about how a vaccine is a scam, and the defense is "oh, I didn't get a vaccine, and I am still alive" or "I got the swine flu, and I am alive".

no, but there are some things that the population as a whole should be doing. Pulling away all our children from getting simple vaccination (rubella, mumps, measles, etc) because of fear induced by bogus studies shouldn't be something we do.

I am just saying that fearing the vaccines is the last thing we should be doing.
