Are these only really necessary for the heavy lifting, hardcore bodybuilder, or would lighter lifters, like myself, still reap the benefits of taking these as a supplement?
I only ask, because after much reading, it seems like most proteins offer up nearly the recommended serving (approx 5gms) of BCAAs and glutamine. I'm lifting heavy weights in regards to my own ability, but by no means am I lifting weights to the point of exhaustive failure.
I'm really just trying to keep to a budget, and if I don't need something, I won't purchase it. I'm still in the midst of chaning my diet and eating habits, so I'm probably not maximizing my daily intake of all vitamins, aminos and nutrients, but that will hopefully come in time.

LOL!! Care to elaborate?
BCAA would do nothing for you. I use BCAA while BJJ training if my training session is 2 hours or more and solid food is not available. It help reduce DOMS.

both glutamine and bcaa's are a waste of money. buy a good protein powder and eat good food.
If you are skinny skip the protein powder and go with a gallon of milk and a dozen eggs a day :)

I like bcaa`s but only when dieting and doing it without gear. In your case as you`ve said you haven`t maximized the basics yet, don`t waste your money. Especially the glutamine. If you take it, use the peptide kind.

You don't really need extra glutamine unless your workouts are so intense that you are sore for days. Even then, things like proper hydration, stretching, and warm-ups can do more than supplementary glutamine.
As for BCAAs, I'm a major supporter of their use mainly because I am a vegetarian. As said above, although they are not cheap, they are an appetite suppressant and really help maintain lean mass when cutting. They work wonders when mega-dosed as well.
Unless you're doing your reps and sets to your max potential, these two won't do all that much for you. I would pick extra BCAAs over extra Glutamine any day of the week.

Those supps r not that necessary but if u can afford them they really do help and are nice to have.
