I did not know where to post this and I did not want to post in the "off topic" forum as it is not really off topic imo.
Does anybody know anything about ultrasound therapy for treating injuries? I went for ultrasound treatment in the past and it honestly worked very well.
I found the exact machine on ebay that my physiotherapist has and used on me. I will not buy it as it is $800.00 on ebay. I then found one for about $80.00. Just wondering if is the same thing? They have the same power output etc. Is ultrasound, ultrasound or are they totally different? Thanks. The price has me suspiciuos.

When I had my injury in 2003, I found ultrasound did nothing for me. Icing it up, resting it for awhile helped a little. I did physiotherapy and the basic stuff they did didn't help me much. Then I discovered ART (active release technique). It was my savior. I went down from 85lbs single arm dumbell bicep curls to not being able to lift a magazine. Elbow injury. After ART, I was able to start with 3lbs curls and within 4-5 months, I beat my record and went to 95lbs. It's a slow and steady progress and patience is the big key in here. Depending what your injury is, ART may or may not help you.

ART worked for me as well...but for muscle hardness only....and it only got me so far....You may to do some type of cortisone shots like dexamethasone or lidocaine with an Iontophoris machine instead.

When I had tendonitis in my elbow, I tired ART but it did not work. Then tried this super deep tissue massage which was so painful I had tears running down my face. The concept is when parts of your body feel pain, your body produces endorphins and sends healing signals. After 2-3 sessions my forearm was as good as new. Before that I had to cut out all bicep exercises and some back ones.

Ultra sound worked well for my shoulders a couple of years ago...they were f**ked for over a year and would not heal properly from all the calcium build up (scar tissue)...after six weeks of ultra sound treatments, my shoulders were great...I was incline benching for the first time in a year. That said my shoulders are now f**ked again..time for more treatments. It seems all the heavy lifting really builds up scar tissue over time, preventing proper healing.
For those who a skeptical of ultra sound treatments, keep in mind that the therapy is truly cumulative. It takes about 6-8 weeks for it to really work well, but it does, trust me...

Ultrasound worked great and I am interested in buying my own personal machine. Im just curious if anyone knows the difference of the hospital grade vs the home ones. The stats are the same but im still skeptical because of the price difference. One is 800.00 and the home one is 80.00.

I would be apprehensive from buying something like that off the net. Check with your physio place or the hospital for that matter and see where they got theres.

Ebay sells the real deal but it requires a MD note and costs $800.00. I am skeptical about the one that costs $80.00 and does not require a doctor's note. If they are the same power and do the same thing, then why the price and control difference? Any physiotherapists here? lol.

This is the real one. The one at the physiotherapy place. The one that requires a MD note and costs $800.00.

This is the cheaper one that looks like the specs are about the same but the price is ALOT cheaper and no MD note required.

Do you think they do the same thing just as well? I have my doubts. Let me know your opinion please.
Thanks.

I noticed the more expensive one operates at 1 mHz whereas the cheaper one is 5 mHz.
