Hey guys,

I'm thinking of starting the Palumbo diet soon. Only problem is that I will be away from home and not likely to have a blender at my disposition. Might be a problem for putting the peanut butter into a shake. I'll only be in this predicament for 4 weeks, would it be ok if I switched the peanut butter to flax oil in my shakes?

I don't see why it wouldn't if I roughly keep the calories the same.

EDIT: I guess another option would be to eat the caloric equivalent of one tbsp of peanut butter as raw unsalted peanuts. Since 100% PB is basically just mashed peanuts, I can let my teeth do the mashing ;)

I don't mind using the Flax Oil (hell I even already have an unopened bottle). But I'm just wondering what the rationale is behind that? Given that 100% PB is just mashed up peanuts (look at the ingredients, it's just peanuts), I don't understand why just eating the peanuts wouldn't also work? Regardless, I'll likely just use the Flax Oil since it's easier for 4 weeks.

just eat the peanut butter from the spoon.
That's another option, but it would mean I would have to bring the pot of PB with me everywhere which isn't quite convinient either. If I get desperate I will though ;)

Curious as well. I don't see a problem eating nuts. I interchange PB, almonds, mixed nuts, olive\grapeseed oil however I feel at the time and depending on the protein source I'm using that meal. What's the problem in that?

I don't see the big deal wrt/ bring peanut butter with you. Eating whole peanuts is just fine. squished peanuts or unsquished peanuts make no difference whatsoever.

A few reasons:
1. You are adding in even more trace carbs. You are already getting trace carbs from the chicken/nut meal along with trace carbs in the Fatty protein/green salad meal.
2. With nuts you will be tempted to grab a little bit more than allotted and they'll be there to snack on. Measuring 1 tbsp of oil is 1 tbsp, nothing you can really do about it.
3. Some of the oils have thermogenic properties (EVOO in particular)
4. Adding in dry peanuts could potentially give you bowel movement problems (which shouldnt be a prob if youre taking the advocated fibre) but at the same time youre so low on fibe for the diet it may compound the problem

Thanks tips. but he said that hes not able to do peanut butter or doesnt want to (dont ask me why). So he proposed either eating regular peanuts vs. an oil.
Obviously, he should follow the template to a tee.

Just get the same amount of required fats from almonds or macadamia nuts. Problem solved.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't he need the Oil from the PB to basically lube him up so he doesn't get bunged up from lack of fiber? I would stick with oil, its only a few weeks or drag the jar of PB with you.
