Anyone have this?
They charge ya $100 to come out and check line of sight. You pay them regardless.
How is this service? fast? reliable?
I want to use for internet and PS3.

Found out more about it.
If I sign up for three years, the install is free.
Packages:
ZOOM - $44.99 - down 1.5Mbps - up 500Kbps
XPRESS - $49.99 - down 3Mbps - up 600Kbps
XTREME - $59.99 - down 5Mbps - up 1.2Mbps
What do you guys think of these rates? speeds?

i dont know about the technology but from what i understand you live in bum**** nowhere and i guess the 'other' companies dont have providers there.
that being said the rates would be 'reasonable' if you actually get those speeds they advertise. reasonable considering it's your only option available. i'd say go for 'xtreme' and if you aren't getting the speeds you should be, go for the 2nd option.

The satellite Xplornet is rediculous for a 2mbps option is 79.99 month and the install is $400. Luckily I have a wireless tower that was just put up within two miles so I am going the wireless route.
Right now I'm running between 28.8-31.6kbps for $25/month so any increase in speed will be a big deal.

BEWARE! I'm a member of Xplornet satellite service Kaboom speed $190/month for 2 Mbps and 512k upload and they're the worst isp I ever dealt with. Forget the speeds they promise you, they throttle the whole service so that more people can surf their crummy servers including bad DNS servers. Remember that your microwave dish/pointer at the front of the round dish shoots a 5 watt signal to a ka-band satellite out in geospherical space. Travel time is around 600-2000 ms total latency (about 30000 meters altitude), that signal then gets sent downward to the large dishes by Xplornet in New Brunswick, which has their servers "fetch" the data you requested and then it gets beamed back up to the geospherical sat which beams back down to your dish on your roof. Travel is like this (up, down, up, down) total distance is around 4x 30000 meters. I've been with Bell (dsl and dialup), Cogeco (cable) and will never ever deal with Xplornet ever again. Call around your area for a wireless option, I'm currently typing this on wireless Bell hotspot. GL to you. BTW, the $190 I pay is not a problem for me as I run a home business and it's a great tax writeoff.

Where I am I have xplornet wireless through motorola towers. Its not a dish but a square panel and is way cheaper than satellite. 3Mb is 49$ as opposed to 2Mb for $190(dish)

I salute you brother, stay away from the dish. I'm moving soon and will definetaly check out my internet options before I sign a lease. Cogeco cable was sweet, I had it for close to 3 years when I lived in Burlington, Ont and would gladly go back to them in Kingston.
