I'm doing 3ml glute shots, and even if I leave the needle in for 20-30 seconds, I'm still getting some gear oozing out afterwards. I was using a cotton ball w/alcohol, but the gear flows into the cotton. What if I was to use something like saran wrap, or sterile latex to apply pressure to the hole causing a watertight seal for a minute or 2, while it seals up?
Also, we all know that a good 0.1cc of gear gets left in the tip of our needles. I recall reading about an "airlock" where you leave a bit of air in the syringe that pushes the remaining gear into the muscle. Any more info on this technique? Safe or not? I want to get 3.5mls into my glutes without resorting to additional shots, and losing more gear.

Pull the skin tight where you are doing your injection, and when done injecting let the skin go back to its normal state that will in a way close off the hole by moving the org inection site through the skin away from when it entered the muscle/
I have no clue if that makes any sense, as its late here and im very tired haha. but i tried. If you do this right it should work!

The z track or what ever its called works. Basically you pull the skin at the injection site so that you are shifting it to the left or right a bit and inject. The thought of this is that when you are pulling the needle out there will not be a straight line from the injected area (muscle) to the skin surface because as you pull the needle out the skin is also let go from the pulled position trapping the gear well below the many layers of skin and sub tissue.
If you google z-track + inter muscular injections you should find some diagrams to better explain this method.

I've used the air bubble often to make sure I get that last bit of gear since I'm a cheap bastard. I didn't know it might help with leakage too [bonus :)].

Just read it. With the Z-track, if I pull the skin, stick the needle in, and the let go of the skin, will this hurt/pull, since my skin will be pulling sideways on the needle? I need both hands to handle the syringe when doing glute injects.

air locking is a rick in my opinion. who cares about a drip of gear when you could possibly put an air bubble into your body, or worse yet a vein.

I know a few things about this but perhaps you should take up your argument with the author of the article or perhaps one of the references she sited
