Well, I think my knee is finally ****ed. In October I hurt it while in Jiu Jitsu, took two weeks off training, and all was good. Still felt something there but it wasn't discomforting. In November, started playing indoor soccer, and kinda torqued the knee at the end of the game. Two another two weeks off from jiu jitsu, and soccer. I played a few more games of soccer, all was well, until the end of December where I really torqued my knee. Could not walk the next day Went and seen the doctor immediately , got X-rayed, and assumed I tore my Meniscus. The girlfriend, who is a Physiotherapist, determined thats what it was before the doctor did, now believes it's more than just a tear, but a tear and a fold. As of right now, I'm still kinda limping, so no Jiu Jitsu, no Hockey, no running. I'm really sad.

All I can do is work out my upper body. No legs. For cardio, well I'm gonna start swimming.

Sorry for the long story, but will supplementing Glucosamine benefit myself? Will it aid in healing or prevent further damage, or would it just lighten the wallet for nothing?

That was my life story for nearly a year, thanks to my absolutely brutal knees.
I'm not sure if it's something you'd be interested in but alot of people really recommended custom orthotics to me. I guess fixing the arches in my feet really contributed alot in helping my knees, along with physio.
I've just started taking glucosamine too and, although my knees are feeling much better I think it's mainly due to the physio and orthotics. Sorry I didn't really answer your question I just realized but it seems like glucosamine should help and I plan too keep on taking it until i notice some concrete results.

Glucosamine helps repair hard cartilage. if you have hard cartilage problems then glucosamine will help, if not, it wont do anything.

i had knee issues for a long time and i asked my sports doc if glucosamine would help and he explained to me how glucosamine worked. for some it works, for some it wont. find out what the root issue is.

Well the doctor didn't say much other than. Hmm....hmm. Ok I'll schedule you for an MRI. Come see afterwards. The MRI is scheduled for June. He didn't even recommend any physio for it. Fortunately the gf is a Physio. She's gonna start treating me twice a week in the clinic after hours. Free physio for me.

glucosamine and chonadrotin are mostly a scam.

I've found a couple of studies where there is minor relief from osteo-arthritis. This is a disease of the bone. People seem to think that consuming this for soft tissue injuries is useful and it frankly has no merit in this case.

It might have merit with bone degradaton from osteo arthritis but the numbers are far from conclusive.

I seen that on wiki. I want to see what studies have been done that have shown this to be effective in the past. If none exist that was another great marketing scheme by some major players in the health industry.

I've used Glucosamine for yrs. I stopped taking it once for a few months and noticed an increase in joint pain; shoulders, knees, etc. May all be in my head, placebo, but I won't be dropping it from my daily supps anytime soon.

I'm using glucosamineall the time its really working well, the liquids are the best but youhave to take it atleast every day twice a month before it does work. i take it because i have jointpains (injuries of horseriding used to be horsetrainer had 23 injuries in the past from tendons till broken bones hehe) I recommend it to everyone to use it even when you dont have pain.. I had allot of chiropractor threatments but with the glucosamine i hardly have pain anymore!
