anyone rememer that board? It's closed now, but thats kinda how I found this one. I was a creater and MOD for that place long long ago.
Just wanted to see if any of the old members came over here. Also wanted to say this place feels like the old RC board.
Thanks members, great read so far.
Hope I can add a bit to it.

Right now, gear free for 5 or 6 years, work and life took over, but I managed to stay in shape, maybe got bigger, not cut right now but I am big. if anyone remembers I was 6'2" at 230lbs ripped long long ago. I even got heavyer and kept ripped upto 255Lbs
Now I am 264Lbs not fat, but not cut. Waste is 34" bies are about 18.5" don't know chest size but I hit 3 plates a side with ease and my new best frend is my bowflex as I was into some MMA training, that machine works amazing for MMA, striking and strenght...fast hard reps...great machine.
I know my chest has developed from it, or might be all the dips I do...lol
But I am going to get into it hard again, and I'll post picks soon.

Awsome to hear! Im glad you started this thread, it's great you've still made fitness a part of your life after all the years with all the bumps and bruises life seems to deliver.
Look forward to a new journal and maybe some old board peeps making an appearance...lots of knowledge from old boards and members.

bowflex?? man i posted a thread about that a while back and basically got torn a new one... of course by people who'd never even used one before, as it usually is the case when people bash stuff they know nothing about. cool to see someone actually have experience with the bowflex say good things about it. i figured it has to be good for something...

LOL...the bowflex is an amazing tool. I use free weights, but also mix in the bow for different stuff. I'm telling you if you train anything that you need speed for, that is the ticket.
I do a squat and striking routine on there, made me real fast for strikes.
Stamina as well as speed. You are never going to bulk up with the bow, but if you are into MMA, it's a great tool.
I would challenge anyone to try it for MMA training, if you don't have a training partner all the time for striking it helps big time. I guarentee you will see a difference with strike speed and power within a few weeks.

If you look like him we wouldn't bash you. I'll bet my life you do not nor do you carry half the amount of muscle he does therefore you got torn a new one.
And he uses it for a different purpose

Different purposes than what? Do you honestly think I'd try to use a Bowflex to put on mass? I'm glad to see you admit to treating people who aren't as advanced in strength or size as below you. Really shows a lot about your character.
Grow up Nate. Your comments are really immature.

He doesn't use it in a bodybuilding specific capacity. As he said, he uses it in an MMA training fashion. I don't recall the thread but when you asked about the bowflex did you indicate you were looking at it from a MMA style training program? If so it's possible you may have received different responses.
Anyway, go get it if you feel it to be a good piece of equipment and can aid you in your efforts to get huge. Nothing ventured, nothing gained?

My original thread was inquiring about the usefulness of a Bowflex, if it offered any benefits when used in conjunction with freeweights. I don't think how big I am should determine the kind of responses I get, when I'm just looking for honest opinions.
Anyway i don't train MMA, so it's probably got little use for me, however it does obviously have some use afterall, and that's all I was wondering about in the first place. Instead I got a bunch of smartass comments that'd it'd make me gay... lol. Whatever, it's not a big deal.. I was just surprised to actually see someone say something positive about a Bowflex.

I'm sure it has some positive uses for sure. Just perhaps not for what most of us on here are looking to accomplish but I am it can be used well to maintain one's physique?

"In as little as 20 mins a day, 3 days a week." ;)
Actually would be pretty sweet if it could be used for maintenance....

LOL.....I should have made this post ......
" Bowflex...it's ok as long as no body knows"
And you can use it to maintain. If you have a gym membership and leave the house to go to the gym but have limited time to do so...the purchase of a bowflex or any other small home gym would be a great idea to use at home to fill the time that you can not go out to the gym.
I have a complete gym at home, I always have. I have added several components over the years, my gym is now in an attached garage 24'X24' full of everything, leg press machine, olimpic weights and 2 benchs, dip rack, chin station, heavy bag, cage, free climber and bowflex ( much more )
But I do say as a BBer, you can grow on the Bow, maybe not to your full potential but you will grow, you can sure as hell get a pump. Some pros use light weight and do sets of 100 reps so you can grow, not 100% sure how much. I know my chest has changed on the bowflex. Defined and size changed, but I was doing free weights as well. To be a Pro, if that is your dream, you need to hit the free weights as we all know.
anyway, " Ripped Canadians " anyone else from that old board?
lol
