So this has gone wacko. Got so many requests for adding a banner here that if I'd take everyone on, I can probably quit my day job and do this full time...buuuuutttt.... it would make the site really ugly with 50 banners and forums for advertisers.

So the next best thing I did was to raise the ad fee and keep it the same as we have. But I would like to take on a few more in the future with the front page coming.

The preference will be to a supplement company and not a supplement store. Meaning I would prefer banners/ads from a company like LG Sciences, Weider, etc instead of a store that is selling a whole bunch of different supplements from different companies. This creates less competition on the site and gets the members to learn more about products a company has to sell.

Services is another that can be something I'd like to incorporate on the site.

Last, but not least, if you are a photographer, I may have some interesting deals for you. If you are on the site and you are interested, drop me a private message.

Why dont you make a forum page for advertisers, and make it one price, then The main page banners another price....Good way to keep it up and get more customers...??
Professional muscle has this type of system, check it out...

Hey MP, when you click on the nutrition area and the main page of forums within nutrition come up, you can have different banners up on that page, etc.....
When you go to training and advice page, you can have some trainers looking to advertise up on that page as banners on the top...
If you know what i mean...

Basically the main front page banners wont be in all areas.......Each area can be tailored to the advertisers that would pertain to that area of interest.......:)
I want to see you retired my friend....well semi retired, just doing this...lol

man its getting tough to compete on this board for a small guy like me in the supps department. even with my good deals and mr. olympia tickets and lodging contest i am doing this year. no offense to u MP. as i understand your end of things too.

if u are thinking of doing the banners for each form, i would like cms(if its allowed back) to be under the hormone form and i would look at opening my online mma store now so i can be under the mma form.

We'll work on the advertising. I have to see how much control I have with the new version of the software. You have been with me for a long time physique so I'll give you first dibbs on a forum when the time comes.

As for the rest of you and advertising. It's easy to say I hate all the advertising and I'd rather go where there is no advertising so it's clean and compact. The problem with those kinds of sites is that it's easy to run a year or two before everything stagnates and one can't grow unless they pull coin out of their own pocket. So putting a lot of time and spending ones own money is really pointless in the long run and most of those sites either die out or give up because the drive and passion die out.

With CBB, I'm trying to generate revenue which will help me with paying for the expansions I want. Notice the callout for photographers (they don't come cheap). One day I would like to sponsor a few athletes. Who knows how far it can go. But the key to building a long lasting forum is money. I don't sell anything so it's the traffic I need which in turn gives my advertisers more clients and more money. That gives me more revenue from ads.
A typical magazine ad for 1 month can cost between 4k and 12k. 1 page. How's that feel for a store or supplement company? Of course if they make 100k a month it's pocket change. My ad fee is very cheap and it gets displayed every day and always viewable. I have had many people tell me it is way too cheap. But I know that a lot of companies and stores here are small so I want to keep it relatively easy for them to afford it yet make some revenue so I can do more with the site.
I can't please everyone and make the best choices all the time but I'm doing what I can to help the bodybuilding community in general. I have a vision of what I want this place to be and I'll take a shot at making it happen. I hope you will all enjoy the ride.

Pick your sponsors carefully and we all win. It would be a good thiing for the board if you were able to dedicate your time to it as a job. Glad to hear business is good.
