I AM STRUGGLING WITH MY BENCH WHILE MAKING CONSTANT GAINS WITH MY SQUATS AND DEADLIFTS. BENCH PRESS HAS ALWAYS BEEN A WEAK POINT FOR ME. PLEASE IF SOME OF YOU GUYS COULD GIVE ME SOME GUIDANCE I WOULD APPRECIATE IT SO MUCH

Whats with the bold caps?

Theres a thread on how to bench properly.(Dave Tate's tutorial?) I like doing negatives. Also IMO most people won't push themselves to get the gains on bench. Proper form goes a long way.

to get a big bench u have to do the bench. Ive done more reps then almost anyone. advice is to stick to the principle of specificity.

you need to build up the muscles that are most activated during the bench press.....tri's, lats, shoulders......

Heavy dips and floor presses.

It all depends on what part of the lift you are weak on. If your weak on lock out then I would do floor presses and heavy tricep work. If your weak off of your chest then do pin presses. You could just do all of the above if you are just weak in the bench.

Did them last night for the first time because ShortDave saw this post and told me about it.

They were rad. I highly recommend them.

Tex: How do you alternate them? one elbow always on the floor or one arm always straight? I tried both ways and it would seem for more pec work the straight arm is better but if you have trouble pushing out of the hole from a dead stop the rested elbow would be better for improving that. What do you think?

What do you think?im going for the explosive power so im leavin the elbow on the floor but leaving it straight would be wicked on the pecs.....good idea!

whats the point of alternating?

in my thinking, it is more energy expended to accomplish the same thing

Dude, I know I will get some flack for this, but here goes....

This is what I use the bowflex for, fast hard punches..unreal workout.

Also to increase bench press switch to dumbell press...do it for a month and then go back to bench press.

But for real, if you are MMA training, try a bowflex ****ing unreal
