Someone at work mentioned this but I only caught the tail end of the conversation. I'm interested for sure since we are thinking of getting digital soon.

Here's a sample offer:

Home Phone:

Unlimited local calling, just $24 per month.

+200 minutes of Canadian long distance minutes, $4.95

Unlimited calling within Canada, $20

As well as your usual Caller ID, Call Waiting, Voicemail etc.

Call today and have your current phone number transferred!

High Speed DSL Internet:

3MBit per second, (download a song in just seconds!)

$19.95 per month for 6 months, or in certain buildings I can offer it to you for 12 months.

TELUS Digital TV:

$22 for basic local channels, no charge cable box and free installation.

Add theme packs of channels that you like to watch! No tiering like with SHAW.

Sign a three year contract and get your cable TV free for the first 12 months!

If you cancel within the first year of your three year contract pay only a $120 cancellation charge! That means that your TV service only cost $10/month if you were to cancel! This is an amazing deal!

Guaranteed not to increase during your term, unlike with SHAW

Only in BC and Alberta. Hopefully they expand east to give Bell a little competition.

A couple of things to keep in mind.

Several people in my building have had Telus TV.

(1) They have complained about the poor quality picture - especially for sports like hockey.

(2) Our building's front door security camera does not show up (it is on one of the channels on Shaw).

(3) Does Telus offer HiDef channels? If you own or plan to purchase a 16x9 aspect ratio TV or a 42" or larger LCD or plasma TV - this is a critical issue. This is also the fast approaching "future".

(4) Can Telus even offer TV if you subscribe to their fastest internet service?

(5) If you sign a 3 yr contract it may be like "chewing your arm off" to get out of it - and you may want to.

With increased competition for our dollars on a "monthly subscription" basis do you seriously think prices will go up much? I would say the "3 yr contract" is way more about "holding you captive" than it is about "saving damage to your wallet". Look at the states now where Sprint is expected to launch a $60 unlimited cell plan - after the other major mobile brands have just launched $99 unlimited plans.

Without a contract, Shaw has to earn your business every month.

Why be married for 3 years to a dud?
