Many contest preparation specialists promote the use of mega doses of BCAAs even when the person is in a positive calorie balance and eating a ton of protein. Have you seen any evidence or is there a logical reason to assume BCAAs from supplements are superior to BCAAs found in food?

This is only anecdotal, but since I do a lot of BJJ sparring 5x a week. I have often to train weight in the morning and BJJ later the same day. I had very bad soreness problems in the past and since Ive been using 30g of BCAA + Electrolyte and Glucose during my training it is a lot better.

Logical reason? No. Scientific reason? No. Especially when you compare to something like whey or milk. BCAA's cost a lot and don't taste good. You would obviously have to take in more food and/or whey protein to get a similar amount of BCAA's but everything is equal, there's no magic.

It's a good question though. I've looked into it before too. Keep doing research, it's better when you can find the answer yourself.

I have found that BCAA's work for myself . I drink them everyday / all day.

I have also found that it is one of the most controversy supplements out there. Even reading that article , you've got 7 or 8 guys who each have their own opions and studies based on either what they or their clients have done or studied.

If you've got the money to spend and you feel they work then take them.
