Starts at 8:45 est. Should be in full bloom at 10pm. Next one is in 2010 so check it out if you can.
I'm sure my Dad has his telescope and camera set up outside already, lol.

Awwww man, a telescope. I'd love to have one tonight.

Thanx:)
It's his favourite toy (among many). He doesn't have the model he wants (because it costs a small fortune), but it's good enough to get a decent view.

Strongest telescope I looked through, I was able to see the 4 moons of Jupiter. Was very interesting. I don't have my own though :(
Wow, that's a pretty strong one. I think I remember him asking for one for birthdays and Christmas every freaking year until finally we could all actually afford to get him one, lol.

Yes, I used a digital camera w. 200mm lens on a tripod inside the house. It was too damned cold to go outside for an hour and a half. The triple pane glass probably diminished some of the sharpness. Had to keep the lights off. Some exposures took up to 4 seconds of shutter open time.
My Dad went out in the cold. He's crazy! Hopefully he'll send me some pics.

A Nikon D70S (that's a digital SLR) with a Nikon 200mm zoom lens. 6 point something megapixel, but loaded with features they don't put on the lower end cameras like D40 series or Canon Rebel for instance. I really like it. I could have taken better pictures with my film camera, as I have better lenses for it ( I have some photos of the moon I took with the film camera where you can see the shadows cast on the mountains and craters, used a 400 mm lens plus two 2x teleconverters, sounds crude but it worked), but I was too lazy and enjoy the fast results from digital.
Some of the digital exposures took up to 4 seconds. That may account for the blurr on the redish total eclipse shots. Its also hard as hell to focus on such a small, dim object. I don't understand why these digital lenses don't simply lock out at infinity like the old film lenses did. I found that if I switched to manual focus, the focus goes beyond infinity. Not sure what that's for, unless it works differently on another Nikon camera.
