Currently 43 years old (almost 44), 192 lbs, 5'10" and guesstimate 21-22% BF.

Anyhow, through trial and error over the past year, I put my maintenance cals at about 2200 per day. I'm currently shooting for 1800 calories a day.

Do you guys eat back any of your cals when cutting, or do you just shoot for the 1800 goal and let the exercise induced deficit bring you down to possible 1000-1100 cals a day?

When I start to diet my cals are higher purposely, then as I go along they gradually decrease. You cannot just set a low number and stick with that, and going down to 1000 cals a day is not healthy, even for a woman thats 115lbs. If you go that low you wont burn fat, you will hold fat guaranteed.

OK - so since my maintenance seems to be 2200, would you just eat 2200 and exercise to cut? (lifting 3x wk, complexes 3x wk off days, cardio 6x wk a few hours after lifting) I lift on my noon hour break in my work's gym BTW, then do my cardio around 3:30 pm when I get home for 45 mins.

Thats what I would do. Keep your maintenance calories at the same, but exercise and weigh yourself to see if you are loosing and adjust accordingly. Make sure your 2200 calories are from good quality sources of protein, carbs, and fats. Maybe include 1 cheat meal a week were you go out and eat something to keep yourself sane. Loosing weight isnt a short term goal its a change in lifestyle....The tortoise wins the race, type of thing.
