Hi Everyone,

I need some advice, am 32 years old and was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, also my testosterone levels are very low for my age but my Dr. is not willing to treat the low T. I was referred to an Endo and he thinks my T levels are nomal. Below are my test results.

Total Testosterone 10.0 NMOL/L Range is 9 - 35
Bio Testosterone is 4 NMOL/L Range is 3 - 15

I currently take metformin along with diet and exercise for my diabetes. I have changed my diet to a lower carb with mostly veggies, with chicken and fish and limit red meats. I have low libido and constantly tired and have lost strength in the gym.

Am trying to lose 30 lbs of fat so I can get off the oral medications, I train 4 to six days a week with intense cardio mostly and weights 2x weekly.

If am able to get a script for HRT should I go with Test E Injections or creams/ gels?

Any idea how this would affect my blood sugar?

Would the Test E help me lose body fat along with diet and exercise?

Any Diabetics on the forum currently using HRT that can offer any advice or suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks for your reply in advance

You need to find the right Doctor to get your on HRT, the majority wont put you on it unless you have some physical sides, IE bone density is off etc.

Im a 24 year old male and have almost identical test results(12,5), and my doc wont do much about it.

Thanks for your reply nii. Were you able to find a Dr to treat you? Am in Toronto and will be making an appt with Masters Mens Clinic in Burlington. I would just like to know if anyone else has similar experiences have type 2 diabetes and Low T and if they are on HRT. I feel your pain because at 24 you should be in the prime of your life especially in regards to your hormones!!!

Find a doctor who will help you.My doctor has me on 200 mgs every three week's and it's helped alot with my sex drive etc...I'm 38 by the way. What's your doctors reason for not wanting to do anything for it? it really helps as you get older.

Dave Palumbo's ex gf, Collette Nelson is a diabetic competitive bodybuilder. You can find several threads dealing with your issues on RxMuscle and can likely get some pretty darn good response from either her of dp on this subject.

Hi Bothen, my Dr said I am still within range eventhough am at the bottom of the range for both Bio T and Total Testosterone (See above for Results) Are you on Test Enant shots? Has the shots helped you with your mood, fitness etc? If you dont mind me asking were you below the range when your Dr prescribed?

Hi Tiramisu thanks for the recommendation, I sent a message to Collette with my questions. Any idea why Drs are scared to start HRT treatments? If anyone could recommend a good Endo or GP that is up to date on HRT I would be very thankful.

Yes i was below the range but can't remember what it was or if he tested for both.I was at the point where i had no energy, depression and my gym day's were non productive. He put me on depo-testosterone.I'd been working out for 15 years prior to this so this is the first steroid i've been on prior to being natural since my 20's.It's really put the muscle on in the last four years. You have to eat all the right food's too.My mood is improved also and it help's to stay consistent with your exercise which will keep you feeling good mentally as well:)

So even though he say's your within range but at the bottom are you still feeling down/sluggish.What other options does he suggest?

The putting on of extra muscle was an added bonus.I started taking it for more energy and depression. It was an added bonus since i was bodybuilding.

The doc is right. Your test is normal; it is within normal range. It just happens to be on the low side.

If you were in early 20s he'd probably have merit in treating you, but you're in your 30s and he doesn't see it as being off.

Nisser, the levels I currently have is way too low for my age and maybe normal for a 90 year old or someone like you! Leave age aside, I have all the symptoms of Low T, lack of strength, easy to gain fat even with a clean diet and plenty cardio, and the big low libido, I will be soon visiting a Men's clinic and if that don't work out I will source from a gym rat or internationally.

No Dr. can really understand how you feel, maybe if patients start chopping their Drs balls off and then tell them their testosterone is in range maybe they will see how someone feel with Low T.

What's the test range for 32 year old male?

If you don't know it how do you know yours is 'way too low' for your age?

The normal range for Total testosterone for a 32 year old male is 23.18 NMOL/L according to Androgens and the Aging Male (pp. 85-102).
http://www.mens-hormonal-health.com/normal-testosterone-levels.html
Depending on the lab ranges your doctor uses, the typical male testosterone level is between 250ng/dl to 850 ng/dl.

As you can imagine these ranges are not set for a virile, high quality of life. They are a cross section of men aged 20 to 100. Many of them are sick and not healthy.
So when you get you get your blood work back and your doctor says your testosterone levels are "normal" at 275 ng/dl, you can tell him where to go. Politely of course. :)
Your doctor may say you are not a candidate for testosterone replacement due to these "normal levels".

I visited a men's clinic today and told the Dr my symptoms I am experiencing and the first word that came out of his mouth was they all point to low testosterone. He said blood tests are just 1/4 of the entire picture, it depends on symptoms and the ADAM questionaire which I completed. Once my new blood tests are back he will administer the appropriate treatment. I asked him about his view on prescribing testosterone and he seemed knowledgeable about the subject.

He ordered the following:

Total Testosterone
Bioavailable Testosterone
LH
FSH
Estradiol
DHEAS
Lipid Panel
Liver Tests

I will post an update once I go for a followup

Doctor Prescibed HCG Sub Q injections 0.4cc 3 Times per week (Mon, Wed, Fri). Question, he said to use a 25 gauge needle, is this a big needle? Can I use a smaller needle say 29 gauge?

All my results including LH, FSH and Total & Free T were low or borderline low.

Am thinking am gonna use the 25 gauge to mix the HCG and use the 29 gauge to inject subq, does this sound correct?

no doc will put a young guy on trt unless they are truly below the normal range.

if you were below 10 then he'd have reasonable cause so to speak to be able to give you trt.

your chances of finding a doc that would put you on trt are truly 1 in 20

My Level of TT was 9.3 nmol and he did put me on HCG and hopefully that brings it up to the mid to high normal range. If that don't work he will add in some Test Enant. Has any use HCG as solo HRT and did it raise test levels successfully?
