my old lady jsut had all four of hers out. she was laid up for a week, high off her ass on oxy's. hers were impacted? so i guess they were really hard to get out and had to cut through the jaw bone a little. that was pretty much worst case senario though, i dont think its that bad most of the time
I had mine out a few years back. 2 days on pain med's and eating solids again in 5.

The recovery time depends on if they are impacted or not. If they arent you could be fine in 1-2 days. However, all 4 of mine were impacted and I was on T3's for 1.5 weeks. Anyways, it is pretty awesome when you get it done you are high as a mother****er when you leave there!

I had mine out. I was awake for the whole thing. Minor swelling after. Your not allowed to eat whole food for three days after it's done.
Oh make sure the dentist isn't cheap on the freezing. My guy didn't put enough the first time I felt him slice my gums open. It hurt.
I didnt use any pain meds even though they were perscribed.

Oh man, I wish I had good new for you, but having your wisdom teeth pulled out is no fun. I was out for 5 days. I`d take the painkillers, which almost put me to sleep everytime for 2 hours, I`d wake up all messed up, the pain would start comming back. But to make sure I had enough pills, I had endure a good 2 hours of pain before taking my next dose. Since I knew I wouldn`t be eating much real food, I treated myself to muscle milk shakes at least 3 times a day. They had to cut though my jar bone as well, as I said, not fun...
You seem like a big dude, and I`d almost assume you need more than the average joe. Without trying to sound like an addict seeking painkillers, maybe talk to your dentist and mention you`ve heard that bodybuilders may need something a little stronger than what somebody else may need. Or take what he gives you and if you need more, call him up and ask him to fax a script for more at your local pharmacy.

The dentist said the longer i wait the higher the chances are that they will get impacted. The pain is getting worse by the day. Also it`s going to put a big hole in the wallet anywhere from $600-800.... Eating has been so consistent this is the last thing i needed.

I feel you on the whole $$$ thing. I`m finishing up a root canal that cost me about $1000. Plus I have no insurance... I had to go to an emergency dentist clinic last year on the 24th, I couldn`t take it no more!

They definitely do over charge i just came back from the office and got charged $120 for a emergency visit and a x-ray all that took about 15min.

Shit! They charged me about $150 on the 24th, but I got an x ray, and they started the root canal which immediately took away the pain, so it was worth it. I was putting oragel on my teeth like a cocaine addict puts powder in his nose. Every 10 minutes all day long. But what can you do??? Well in my case, I was an idiot and didn`t go to the dentist when I should have... It could have costed me $75 to replace the filling that fell out, instead, I waited for an infection to occur. Ah, so stupid!

^^^sounds like thats what im waiting for.
I had the same problem as you Ritch. Another shitty thing was exactly one year later that root canal got infected ( because I didn't cap it ) and he had to pull it. It was like flushing $1000 down the drain.
I think if I had that problem again in another tooth I would just get them to pull the thing.

Ya gotta cap it! At first I was going to just have it pulled as it`s near the back. They said if I do that, it could mess up the other teeth, which sounds logical. In the end it really is a lesson learned to just go to the dentist once a year and have nobody to be mad at except myself.
My dentist is so cool, he asked me how much it cost me at the emergency clinic and deducted that from the total cost!

Impacted or not recovery is quite fast and not painful if you have a very skilled surgeon. I had one extracted 20 years ago by a regular dentist...not fun. About 4 years ago I had the last three (2 impacted) out on a friday and I was back to work on monday....had an entire bottle of oxycontin and its still sitting there...didnt need one. Oh and no swelling at all....none.
If you are anywhere near Toronto one of the best clinics is Crescent Oral Surgery...if you can get them done there it will save you time and pain

I was told not to be put to sleep, I guess if the dentist knows you're somewhat concious he's not going to put his knee up on your chest and rip them out he's going to be more delicate - hopefully.
They gave me a few valium before they did my surgery and I had very little pain, was awake the whole time.. something to consider I guess.

I must've had a hack job then.... my mouth hurt like hell for a week. He told me 2 were impacted, the other 2 were well on their way.. funny, they felt fine to me and were almost fully in. Was put to sleep for the surgery... happened very fast in my mind.. just as I was passing out, I was waking up and it was done... but very, very out of it for at least an hour or two afterward. It was a strange feeling, it felt like I had been through something major, like my body was still aware of the trauma, but I was out cold. I think the doc was pretty rough in there.
Lots of bleeding, swelling. Ice bags on my face. Changing the gauze in my mouth constantly for a few days. I was on the pain meds for days, don't remember exactly how long... this was something like 11-12 years ago. I remember I couldn't eat solids for a week.. chewing freaked me out, didn't like to feel the surgery areas.
It sucked.

Also, when I was recovering I drank protein shakes, after about 2 days I had raw egg whites in my shakes. I asked the surgeon and he said that wasnt a problem.

Also think about that Seinfeld episode where after the dental surgery and he woke up to find his tshirt untucked. He had been used as an unconscious third in a three way. Stay Awake!!

Can you imagine how ****ed people must have been in the days when no dentists existed? I swear, the day I caved in and was just sitting here with both hands on my head, eyes closed, thinking to myself "****"... Dental pain is almost impossible to ignore and only gets worse the longer you ignore it.

What about "Cast away" with tom hanks. Just take that ice skate and a rock and hammer that molar right out of your mouth. That scene still makes me cringe

I have a big mouth! lol mine came in without a problem... I think there is even room for a few more teeth in there!
Good luck with the mouth surgery! I think it laid my girl out for about 4 days.

Thats like saying all surgeons are equal...not even close to the truth. There are many dental surgeons out there...ive seen butcher jobs many times with my friends. The difference is night and day if you get a skilled surgeon. A skilled surgeon will actually tell you befofe hand how it will be....both my fiance and I had surgery at the same clinic....both with the same outcome...no swelling, no pain, quick recovery. Its the same way with orthopedic surgeons etc....there are average ones and then then are above average ones....which one do you want repairing you.

i had mine done in the hospital, they put me out and didnt cost me anything. don't wait, it could cause nerve damage.... and in the grand scheme of life, it'll all be over and forgotten before you know it.

Go to a dental surgeon AKA maxillofacial and it will SOOOOOO much easier for u bro. ****ing dude did mine in like 2 minutes flat and recovery was like 3 days with lil pain meds needed.
If u were to get gyno removed would u go to a chiropractor.
Trust me on this bro go see a maxillofacial surgeon, trust me:)

I have a friend's wife who is an oral surgeon. The speed that they can do a procedure like this in office is amazing. Whether it's going to hurt afterwards is far more a matter of what they have to deal with in taking them out.
When I had mine done the worst part of the procedure was the anaesthesia. The swelling was minor and I was back on my feet pretty much as soon as the drugs wore off.

Yup something like that. I sat down, got a needle around each 4 teeth then they left me there for 5 minutes. Doc and chick come back, he tilts my head back and pops each tooth out in a matter of 30 seconds.
Doc pulled em out as easy as poping off a mgd cap, then a few minutes for stitches and i was on my way home. The root in the back teeth comes out easy he says where as others do not.
Im sure this guy had TOP MARKS in all his classes.

well that sounds like a surgery without any complications... they had to drill/cut my teeth down the middle before removing them (2 of them were like this) so it was a bigger ordeal and the healing process was worse. sounds like you lucked out ****er. :p

Way to go guys, lol
I had 1 done (485$) and it was a nightmare. Took 1h15 total. He almost had to put a foot on my face and if he had a pipe wrench and would have used it. My clothes touching the chair were soaked from head to feet. The recovery was VERY quick...at least
I hate the dentist :(

if you get put under you wont know what happened as it'll be over before you know it. recovery may or may not be super shitty, but it'll only be a week at the most and then it's over and done with.
