Are there any ectomorph bodybuilders on here?

I am looking for some good advice on bulking up beyond eating and lifting heavy.

If you`re an ecto and wanna gain weight, google John Berardi and read what the man has to say. Basically you`re gonna want to be eating 600 grams of carbs per day, 200-300 grams of protein and 150-200 grams of fat per day.

i just don't have the appetite to eat so much, but i do eat a lot.

^^^ Neither do I... That`s why I prefer shakes most the time. I was supposed to cook a steak now, but I`m gonna have another shake with natural peanut butter.

Thanks Ritch. I will look him up.

Make sure you cook up a batch of his chili. It fills up 2 big pots and makes 10-14 servings. Great post workout food, and good to have in the freezer in case life gets hectic and you don`t have time to make your food.

I was 130lbs out of highschool. When I met my wife I was a hulking 155lbs. More recently though when I joined this board about a year ago I was about 195lbs and since then with the knowledge I have gleaned from this site I now weigh in at 220lbs. I can honestly say I did it with an abundance of food so be patient and eat lots.

I was a socking wet 145lbs in High School, no matter what I did I could NOT gain a pound! I pumped iron fairly steady but just stayed ripped. At around 20 I started reading etc., a lot more about BBing/Powerlifting my diet and so on.

From then on my weight climbed steady.....I bulked up to my heaviest ever a few yrs ago to 280+, and now sitting at 245-250lbs with an outline of my abs, not peeled by no means lol, but I was bulking not too long ago, now just trimming back down to a summer type physique....seems to take a lil longer/harder for me to get back to that peeled state as I get older

I am 6'5" 150lbs and 30 years old. I have been the same since highschool. In early college I was prescribed an anti-depressant. I gain about 30 lbs over a 6 month period. When i discontinued the medication I slowly dropped the weight.

I have been an avid reader. Some of the meals plans I see are outrageous!

I eat for sustenance. I go through bouts of small gains by hammering my body with calories. I will say that some fat is now muscle.

The protein shakes are a great idea.

The protein shakes are a great idea.Although I didn't suffer from your extremely lean condition I also had issues gaining back when I was younger. Two things made a huge difference for me one was eating eggs and I mean loads of whole eggs IE 2 doz per day, and the second was following a very old school 3 day per week full body training program. Each workout would take about 2-3 hours but that along with the eggs made all the difference and I went from 180 (where I had been stuck for a couple of years) to 240 and my lifts all increased as well. Oh and as a side note the eggs were divided into 4 meals/shakes and I still ate 3 more solid meals of high protein, moderate fats, and carbs....if you're a true ecto then you really have to eat loads of quality, calorie dense, high protein foods if you want to make any gains at all.
