What can be said about these people that already hasn't been said about Rosie O'Donnell?
Part of me wants to commend them on getting in the gym for a change, but the fact they need an occasion not to be disgusting slobs or effeminate euro trash makes me cynical.
And wtf is with these douches weighing 150lbs wearing track pants and wife beaters? Track pants are usually a sign that his ass is flatter than Olson's twins and their alleged breasts.
the school gym was utterly ****ing ridiculously PACKED today full of clowns waiting in line (literally) to do curls with 35's.
people are ****ed. just go home and eat chips you chest / biceps / abs day going every single day mother ****ing douche bag faggot bitch. ****.

They were out in full force today. My gym sucks so it still wasn't that busy but the douchebag ratio definitely went up a couple points.

You always see this around this time of year, and just before summer. Next gym I get a membership to is going to hopefully be one that only has dedicated, serious people who train for the lifestyle, not just a fleeting new year's resolution or pre-summer fake fest.

I met the january people and survived. Acting like a lunatic seems to help.
I'm doing overhead press this evening and a guy walks up and essentially sits down under the bar. I look at him and say "You might want to move so I don't hit you in the teeth with this bar". He moves about six inches looks at me and says, "Is this ok?". I respond "I don't know, they're your teeth". After I started shaking with the bar overhead he decided it was was wise to **** off.

I've trained in a lot of gyms across the country and those types are very few and far between these days. In fact, in the last 10 years of training I can only think of 2 gyms that were hardcore, The Garage in Surrey and Reflex in Langley.
I'm not very fond of new years resolution people either, unless they're hot and dressed in spandex.

ahh see there is the problem. For every new hottish girl that has joined there are equal or greater the number of fat ****ing whales with hunchbacks wearing spandex!
When the **** are people going to learn that if you look like you weigh more than I do... DON'T WEAR SPANDEX!?!?!?! ****

I've never understood that. They must know how they look in spandex? Seems like a form of self-deprecation or something. See everyone, look at my cellulite and huge globs of fat.

ya dude, doing legs tonight, pm me if you're hitting it up
If I wasn't having a 3 hour discussion on feminism and law late this afternoon I'd be up for it. However, I think I will be rather drained after this class and will need a big meal and then go straight to bed. Heh, heh.

I just started getting into shape (october) and i also refuse to go to the gym because of this. My plan from the begining was to get my diet in check and do some cardio to drop some lbs, then to hit the gym hard and start getting strong in the new year. Everything was great untill i went to the gym on the 2nd. There were sooo many gym rats i went and picked up a bench of my own after my session. I am staying far away from the gym and doing my own thing untill feb.

Gym rats should be supportive with people with the right attitude.
Alladin and Short Dave have done wonders for lots of people coming into their gym, but our gripe is usually with the ubiquitous douche bag and the attitude they carry.
Certainly there is lots of new talent in the gym these days, but if girls haven't been active the whole year they usually don't have much to look at (well in terms of quality at least)

While I hate them, I realize that they're generally a good thing. They keep the gym costs low. A lot of them pay for a yearly membership and stop going in March.

This lol!
I'm very lucky in my new gym. In an out of the way corner of my neighbourhood; Busier than November? Sure, but not in a way where anything changes MY workout...waiting for equipment, etc...
And the noobs who come keep to themselves i.e. they don't compensate for their lack of experience and/or size by acting like king shit :D

Where abouts on the island is your gym?
I don't want to offend anyone, but some gyms (if you can call them that) on the island are nothing but a gay cruise fest.

Poor guys, lol
I work out in a fag gym.. I can choose between fag gym 1 or two or fitness world..
I personallly wouldn;t care if they are gay, but this acting like a girl ( guy hugging each other, occasional kiss ) puts me through the roof.
Sucks cuz its soo close to my place..avoid most of it by going late or early..
I'd rather put up with a few douches and hot girls then what I have to deal with..
Time to switch gyms I guess

LOL This is so funny and yet so true!!! I've seen way too many people come into the gym who still are fat and wear clothes they shouldn't be wearing. Cover up the fat because no one wants to look at it. Even when I'm in my off season I don't wear skimpy things!
I don't like the large crowds either, but maybe I might get one or 2 clients from it. They get in my way when I train my clients and when I work out. If someone has their stuff on a piece of equipment I ask and if no one claims it I take it. And even if someone says they are on it I tell them I'm jumping in, between sets. Or I'll go up and ask how many more sets do they have. They know I mean business so they usually move. LOL

Problem is that people new to the gym often don't know the etiquette or common courtesy of the gym. Cell phones drive me wild. Unless you are expecting a call from your soon to deliver wife leave them in the locker.

I guess if you aint talking on it or acting more obnoxious than you would normally I might let it slide.
I tend to refer to the douche bag guido talking loud on his phone while seating on the military press in between sets of curls. Why does he have to sit on the military press bench is beyond me.

This is why Im glad my gym charges $50+/month and charges $20 for drop-in.
The gym has been busier than normal, but theres probably only an extra 5-6 people in the weight lifting area which isnt too many.

This is exactly what I've been trying to do lately. I have a hard time waking up at 6am every morning though. The New Years Resolution Crowd is a real bugger, the gym is packed especially after 4pm. It's full of people who have rarely or never been to a gym before and who have no knowledge of gym etiquette whatsoever. The weights are all over the place, the benches never cleaned up, people hogging the machines. Thank God January is almost over and these people will likely not be seen till next year.

It's kind of wierd but despite the fact that the gym is so full it takes me 5 minutes to find a parking space I seem to be getting through my workouts in record time for the last 2 weeks.
It will be nice when there is more room to walk but most people seem to spend a lot of their time doing useless exercises.

All you have to do is not work your chest or biceps on busy days, those are pretty much the only things 90% of the new years crowd will work.
