What do you drink during a workout. Do you drink a gaterade, vitamin water or something like that or just water? State what you drink and your reasoning behind it. Personally I find if I am drinking a gaterade or something with sugar in it I feel more of a pump. Could be in my head though.

I use to drink the premixed gaterade until delt king told me that it was useless because if its premixed its filled with fructose. But if u buy the gaterade powder its filled with dextrose and u will benefit if u drink it durning ur workouts cause it will keep ur insulin levels spiked.

Is there any benefit to drinking BCAA's during a workout?

Big time difference, you should try it when dieting. Strength stays up and muscle soreness goes down.

I've put dextrose in my water before but didn't find any appreciable difference. Plain water does the job for me.

I like scotch, but gin and tonic with a squeeze of lime is good too.

I drink about 4 scoops of Xtend by Scivation which has 5g glutamine , 13g BCAA's and 2g CM with 2L of water - every workout .

I also drink this with about 4L of water and 6 scoops ALL DAY when I 'm on a low calorie diet ( which I am now ) I find it helps with cravings and helps fight hunger.

bcaa supplementation shou;ldn't be taken with a shake. Take your BCAA's right after training then do your shit, go home and then eat or drink a shake.

Why shouldn't BCAAs be taken with a protein/carb shake?

I'll try to find the study but from what I recall reading it had something to do with the uptake of the BCAA's into the blood stream. Basically slowing their entry.

Lemme see if I can dig it up. Was a cpl years ago that I initially read it though.

well it really doesn't make sense since BCAAs are components of protein. And protein+carbs has been shown to be more beneficial than protein alone

If your having protein intra/post-workout though, BCAAs really are not necessary/beneficial at all

Scivation Xtend sipped on during and after my workout.

So i'm getting bcaa's citruline malate and glutamine. I get better pumps/endurance and noticeably better recovery from workouts.

I am a big advocate of intraworkout mixes. I mix 35g of gatorade powder with 10g of BCAAs. Works awesome, I can keep the intensity up for much longer doing this. My leg and back days suffer if I forget to bring this concoction with me.

Are those the ingredients in a drink mix you use, or is this homebrew?

Electro Carb by Advanced Nutrition. Discontinued long time ago. I just add BCAA. Will homebrew when I run out unless I find something similar.

If you homebrew that, you`re crazier than me! That`s gonna be alot of powders on the counter going through a funnel...
