So assuming you want to balance your omega 3/6 ratio to reduce general inflammation and such.
How do you know how much omega 3 to take?
Is there any freely available food database I can use to calculate what my omega 3/6 intake actually is?
... and if there is How do I dose fish oil to bring these into balance?

you want to have a 2:1 omega 3:6 ratio or even 1:1... so u would have to know how much omega 6 u consume to be able to balance them, i use 10grams fish oil plus i eat 4 omega 3 eggs a day and 200grams wild salmon, i would just supplement 5-10 grams fish oil plus eat whatever other omega 3 sources you can find in a day...

That seems like a fairly random approach. I'd like to have a sense of how much omega 3/6 I'm taking into my diet so that I can dose appropriately.
Shotgunning, seems like a pretty non optimal strategy when it comes to consuming fat.

I understand that response seems like it`s random, but if one was to do just that on a daily baisis, that`s alot of omega 3`s! Two good whole food sources, the only way to get more would be through the caps. I know this won`t seem like a satisfying answer to you Tiramisu, but I`d be willing to bet that`s good enough...
I`d ask that question to Carl at superhuman radio... Send him an email, I`m sure he`d be glad to help you out if the anwers you get here are not to your satistfaction bro.

The USDA has a detailed database...
Here's 7 oz of sirloin beef

EPA (20:5)
DHA (22:6)
Linolenic (18:3) check
but what about the other omega 3? count em ignore em?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omega-3_fatty_acid
rats not enough info here Linoleic acid is an omega 6 (18:3) so this data doesn't tell me what the ratios are and are glommed together :(
i get between 15-30 grams a day......

The canadian data appears to differentiate nutrient breakdowns...

So I just got through a 7 oz sirloin
Omega 3's .12 g
Omega 6's 1.2 g
about a 10:1 ratio of 6:3
So a steak needs about 1 gram of Omega 3 supplementation.
I've got the world's cheapest fish oil capsules (1 gram = 180 mg of epa, 120 mg of dha so to balance off a steak would take about 3 capsules)
The oil in my salad may help a bit depending on what I'm using (ala walnut, avacado so I'll have to work the rest out. I'll post the numbers for the palumbo template in my log.
i get 12g from fish oil omega3 caps a day and try to have a much as possible in my diet. My BP is at its lowest since I upped to 12g and my skin and everything is looking good as well.
