I wouldn`t use that word simply to avoid trouble. The only time I`ve used the n word was when it was well warranted as they were acting like it...

I'd use it around blacks. While I explained to them what it means, and I already knew of this word and it's definition, I'd steal the watermelon that they dropped upon hearing it. :p

As I read this thread, I'd thought about that story and started looking for it but you beat me to the post. I think there's times when a serious lack of education (or willing ignorance) and it just runs wild. How about this one?

its funny how n-words get sooo excited and demand the word not get used, or anyone who does MUST lose their career.....but on the way home the n-words have D12 playing in their cd player.

There is no reason why the n-word shouldnt be used. It is likely the most common word used by blacks, and probably more common then "the" or "and" or "aks"

Please explain what "aks" means.

I used to use the word all the time, until one day I used it within earshot of a co-worker. I used it in the context of doing a half -assed job, as in n.... it up.

To this day I don't know if he heard me, if he did he didn't say anything. But he was a good enough guy, and I felt guilty enough about it, that I removed that word from my vocabulary. The day was gonna come when it was gonna get me into trouble.

I know it seems like a double standard.... they say it all the time..... about themselves.
But the way it was explained to me was 1- its empowering
and 2- theres a difference, even among black people, between blacks and n...rs.

I just stay away from it.

my problem is that the blacks do not come down on the n----ers for using it. Only if a white person says it. So thats why I go out of my way to often use the word.

this word (niggardly) came up in a poli sci lecture of what NOT to do in the public sphere especially if you are in any position of power.

I wonder how long this slave thing is going to go on for... like in 500 years, do you think blacks will still have issues with whites over something 600-700 years old?

Honestly, the whole them being allowed to say it, but we arent is stupid, slavery is gone and dead, the word shouldnt have gravity anymore. Forbidding it just reloads the word.

Yes.
In 500 years, if some peoples attitudes don't change... On both sides... Things will be the same.

Slavery is gone & dead ( here anyway ), but the attitudes that allowed it are alive and well.
In Canada... to some degree.
In the Southern States not much has changed in the last 150 years.

My kids are half white and black.
If anyone ever talked shit (******............not the topic word)... they would expirience the rage of a father who absolutely loves his kids and want to protect them.

Ritch

^^^ But by doing that, you`re just giving power to the word. To protect your kids from what thought? Think about it... Some kids throw down the N word on your kid, what good is it going to do for you to beat them then go to jail?

so have you ever used the word? if yes.... **** off with that rath BS. LOL Not trying to attack you bro...just making a point. And I am sure you have used the word with out even knowing anything about you.

I`m really on the fence on this one. Here`s the deal... Although I blurted the word out a few times, I`ll admit I was ashamed of what I said. I said it because one attacked me and was really pissed off... I don`t use the word in my own house or around others, and wouldn`t be comfortable if friends of mine said it as well.

But as Wade said, alot of black people use the word among each other. Does it make it right that they can use it and not us? Surely not, it`s almost hypocritical, but why participate in the hypocrisy?

megwell

have i ever used it?......sure said it last week LOL
but here's the thing............
1... there are some people who don't have tact.....and will blurt it out without caring about their audience ( when small kids are around..... not good)
2... I have a huge sense of humour...i can laugh at anything..... but it erks me to the bone when i hear someone say that word when you know that they are racist.
3. .. I can't stand when young people (specially young black males) throw that word around like it's no big deal....why?
about 25 years ago when i was a young punk......I used to hang around a downtown crowd........ one of my buddies........ who told me to call him "N".......when he introduced himself to me........ we were going down the block just talking crap yada yada yada...... throwing the word around.......... then this older black male ripped into my buddy about how could he refer to himself as a "N"........... then the lecture of wisdom came into play............ this old man............. went through the 1930's 40's 50's.... litterally decades of racism and fighting for respect............ect...... it was a very long informative lecture of someone who went through much of his life being treated subhuman because of the colour of his skin............

it was an eye opener............another one of those things in life that i'd never forget.

and wadrow................ seriously................. i don't know if you have kids........... but when the need to feel like you have to stand up and stick up for them arises.......... it's like adrenaline you've never felt before...........can't explain it.

My late uncle lived in Florida and he used to say " who the **** n__gger rigged this thing? " when something didn't work right. He was a musician and played with several black guys and girls over his career. Nothing racist about the guy, he just liked the saying. I thought it was funny. Still do.

Yes, but it has everything to do with the word n2gger. BTW- have you seen the giant black dude at the gym recently? He is about 6ft4 with arms the size of my legs. Must be an ex CFLer.
