Nudity in Avatars

If you have nudity in your avatar, please change your avatar to something more appropriate so we can read the board in front of the kids or at work.

I'll start removing nudity in avatars after the upgrade but would prefer if you would take care if it before then.

Also after the upgrade, the 18+ forum posts won't show up on new posts. You'll have to browse into that forum to view new stuff.

Just to comment on the 'work safe' issue. I found that disabling the avatars works great for browsing at work. Also makes the site load much quicker.

CP > Edit Options > Thread Display section > Uncheck Avatars and/or sigs.

That will be perfect for logged in users. Problem is we have 1835 guests reading the forum that don't log in. They are forced to see the avatars I believe. Maybe I can find a way to turn them off for guests.

Sounds good, however, I wouldnt allow butt/thong shots. To a lot of people that is "softcore porn". Same goes for the boob/cleavage shots. IMO if a girl wouldnt walk around the mall wearing it, it shouldnt be in an avatar.

i have to say that the whole time my husband has been a member of this site i have hated and despised the avatars. i understaned that the women in the pictures knew what they were doing when being photographed. and boys will be boys, i have no illusions over what guys like. but i didn`t like what i saw when i glanced at the computer and wondered "what the hell is my husband looking at with me in the room!" i also had reservations about joining because i really just don`t need to see anymore of that distaste. i get enough of that crap in m&f for her! and all over the m&f for him that are lying around my bathroom.

Yeah it would be nice if the avatars were tonned down. I would like to read the forum sometimes at work and a lot of the images are not really appropriate. A lot of the nudity in the avatars makes the forum look not serious and probably keeps people from taken the forum seriously.

the point is it's in a thread that's in a specifically labeled 18+ subforum which is only viewable if you intentionally click to enter it whereas avatars are out in the open and visible in every forum/subforum (which IMO i really don't give a shit TBH).

I think the real question is what is the mission?

... and then keep the mission the mission. If pornography does not fit within the mission of this site then it should not be here.

... what I consider complete useless crap, massive off topic chatting, flame fests, pornography and general bullshit has BEEN within the mission of RxMuscle for example. As it's mission is fairly close to "anything for a buck"... The are trying to drive numbers through the site as aggressively as possible through any means possible to generate advertising revenue.

Is that a bad thing. It's keeping Romano in a porsche and that's the mission.

I personally prefer a site that is dominated by talk of training, nutrition, supplementation and sport.

Rippetoe's starting strength, Iron Addict's strength and iron, skip's intense muscle; each has established a special focus and have become go to sites because of this.

CanadaBodyBuilding is my go to site because:
1) it's canadian centric
2) there is a critical mass of bodybuilders and hobbyists who share my interests.

I find pornography waters this down and attracts a different set of interests. I also like hitting the "new posts" button and not having to wade through shit.
