I was wondering if anyone knows a website or paper that describes how muscle synthesis takes place. Looking for a very high level paper, or something that can describe it in 20 pages or less. I dont have a degree in biology so indepth articles containing low level processes wouldnt help much. I severely lack an overall picture of how muscle is created, and how AAS helps this process. For example, why is it that we use AAS, and not just anabolic steroids? Why do we need androgenic compounds, since we're only interested in protein synthesis and not male characteristics. Is it because that most compounds we use like test are anabolic and just happen to be androgenic? Do we really care if theyre androgenic?

I have a loose understanding of why synthetic testosterone helps muscle synthesis. But other compounds that are not found in our body such as Tren, Deca, EQ etc etc, how do these compounds help muscle synthesis?
Are there any materials that explain what these compounds are and why they help with protein synthesis?

For example, i think i know what an androgen is, but dont know what an androgen receptor is, and why its important. I have no clue what the aromatization process is... and it goes on.

Ill start reading about AAS on wiki, which links me to protien synthesis, and androgens and andorgen receptors. But theyre all defined in an isolated way so that i dont really get the big picture.

i am under the impression that anabolic part helps us make muscle cells larger (hypertrophy), while the androgenic part increases recovery.
