Anybody out there ever try CMI Nutrition's BIG?

I'm looking for a good recovery supp to take before bed. I'm not sleeping all that well and I think it's because I recently intensified my workouts.

After work (5PM) I head to the gym for 1-2 hours depending on the day.
After the gym (6-7PM) I have a protein shake and supper.
Pre-Bed (9:30) I have a Rivalus Promasil Protein Shake
Bedtime (10PM) I can't sleep.

I know it's 3 hours after my workout that I'm hitting the sack but I'm still feeling pretty awake and pumped and I can't sleep until midnight at least. I'm not getting enough quality REM sleep to recover fully.

CMI Big is supposed to help recovery with creatine and glutamine plus an REM Sleep enhancer.

Any thoughts, reviews, feedback would be great!

I have used it before. Tastes like ass and is $70 a tub. buy some creatine, glutamine and some 5-htp and make your own.

BIG has been replaced with BIG XL which I think was basically because of the taste (which I hear improved significantly). 63.99 for 30 servings. CMI makes some solid products but they are a little more expensive.

So is BIG XL worth the money or should I just mix creatine, glutamine, and 5-htp like Ragnar suggested and make my own? Also, what type of creatine should I use if I were to do that?

Would BSN Cellmass be a better option? Like I said earlier, I'm looking for a good recovery product but one thing I didn't state was that I don't want to add extra calorie intake with it (BIG XL and Cellmass are both low cal with little carbs and no extra protein so that's why I'm looking at those products).

I would use Creatine Monohydrate.

Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with BIG I really liked the product. I get the same results for less than a quarter of the price. I personally would rather have the money in my pocket than the supplement company's.

^^^ Or use 4 times the product for the same price! Either way, for what the product offers, they have no excuse other than greed to sell it to you for that price.

Do you currently have any problems sleeping?

Yeah I haven't been sleeping well at all lately. I'm definitely not getting as much quality REM sleep that I need in order to fully recover. That's why I was interested in something that aids in rest as well.

BIG has 5-htp like I said but I prefer melatonin and gaba together for a sleep aid.

I'm sure this would work well for you. You are paying for the convenience and the company does have a pretty good reputation. The XL has both GABA and 5 HTP (see below). I'm sure you could craft your own combo for less though.

The Promasil does have a natural thermogenic in it. That's shouldn't be what's keeping me up though. There isn't any caffeine in it like most thermogenic products.

For Pumphouse: Thanks for the break down on the product. One question I have for you is this...how much creatine and glutamine should I supplement with each day? My Whey Isolate (IsoXP) protein packs 8.5g of glutamine per scoop (50g protein). I've started taking 2 full scoops of that per day (17g of glutamine). How much more glutamine is acceptable?

IW or anyone else that's tried this stuff, I'd love to hear a review. Lots of good stuff in there as long as the quantities are appreciable.
