Hello as mentioned in subject im new to bodybuilding sorta, I have in the past but since I played several sports never took it seriously. I am 18 weighing at 140lbs and stand at 5'9". I would like to reach 155-160 by summer. Im a university student at UOIT in oshawa with a state of the art gym so the facilities are available to me. I have read many nutrition guides and stuff and wanna maintain a diet of 50c/30p/20f. I am currently creating a routine that should work well for me. However my inquires are about nutrition. I am on a meal plan at university and must say it is a pretty good balance of nutrients there, but was wondering about snacks on a low budget. I already supplement with whey protein and omega 3 pills. I use protein bars as well but would like to use other high protein snacks such as nuts. I would say my budget would be 30$ bi-weekly any suggestions and any tips for someone who is focusing only on body building these days (no more sports). I should mention my goals are to have that stereotype beach body with six pack. So lean and toned.

Thanks to everyone in advance for your help

That could work cause im no where near being huge anyway so i could always use your methods to bulk up and than switch once I reach my target goals.
Thanks that would be much appreciated

Dense calorie snacks would be your best bet..
nuts, peanut butter, whole milk, boiled eggs, etc You need protein as well as calories to grow...especially someone your size.

If you want to get bigger and stay failry lean you need to be upping your protein intake. You should try a 20f, 45c, 35p split for your macros. If that is too difficult with your meal plan just make sure that you are getting at least 1-2g I would say 1.5g of protein per lb of bodyweight then go from there.

In terms of muscle building exercises I would stick to compound exercises such as squats, bench press, bent over rows, military press etc. You are going to want to eat, sleep and train heavy. Strength training helps keep you lean if you do it properly but you we will also gain some mass. For size you don;t have to worry so much about hypertrophy exercises and stick more in the 4-8 rep range. Make sure not to overtrain though.

I find that training 3x a week is usually good enough but a lot of beginner need more volume and can train up to 4-5 time a week without overtraining since the weight used wont be to high, so CNS recover faster.

Make sure you listen to your body, if you feel really sore, to tired or sick dont hit the gym, but otherwise give your 110%

Its all about dedication, nutrition and information. Try to learn as much as possible and eat as much as possible.
