I can't believe that after years lifting and in these boards people have not educated themselves and still are:

doing leg extensions,

eating peanut butter

don't know that the only definition of intensity is % of 1RM:beat

This is my favorite definition of intensity

Intensity;
The amount or degree of energy with which a force operates or a cause acts; effectiveness, as estimated by results produced.

Here you go, a 50/50 sample of people who argue from both POV's. You cant make a definitive statement about something that is unproven.

Leg extensions might hurt 1 person and for another, work great.

Well extensions may have their place, but there are are far more useful exercises for quads like front squats, olympic squats, BB hacksquats, etc.

It is an exercise to be used from time to time, but I would never use them as a cornerstone of a leg training routine.

I don't really get the argument either. Not counting the hip flexors the only job of the quadriceps is knee extension so basically the exercise just works the muscle group in isolation. I agree it isn't a great exercise but I have used it as a finishing exercise to exhaust the muscle doing drop sets to failure, stuff like that. Or on a day where I'm focusing on the glutes and hamstrings, just to stimulate the quads a bit.

If someone can find peer reviewed journal articles from a credible source stating that peanut butter contains phyto estrogens (or whatever they're called) than I'll read it. Of course, it would also have to be proven that it has a negative effect on something important.

for sure, i agree..... i am sure we are all aware of that.......BUT.........at least you gave a bit of an explanation as to what are better exercises for some...
If you try them and lift your ass off the bench semi-standing and crank them out without fully locking out hard, it can be beneficial to the teardrop section of quads, not as much as squats, etc....
At least you didnt just say dont do them and insult our intelligence and then leave....lol.....

I found some information regarding phytoestrogens and its food sources:
I'm not so sure it's such a bad thing. Acts as an antioxidant and may reduce the risk of prostate cancer. I'm sure there are negatives also but for a lot of the guys a little estrogen may do more good than harm.

Phytoestrogen and Its Food Sources
The major phytoestrogen groups are isoflavones, flavones, coumestans and lignans. The former three are flavonoids. Isoflavones are found in high concentration in soy bean and soy bean products (eg. tofu) where as lignans are mainly found in flax seed.

Some studies indicate that phytoestrogens have health benefits including potential reduction in breast cancer, prostate cancer and cardiovascular disease risks, possible protection against osteoporosis (bone loss) and menopausal symptoms. Besides, both flavonoid and lignan phytoestrogens have antioxidant activity.

Estrogen is available in medically formulated pills. However, dietary estrogen (phytoestrogen) can be also found in wide variety of food products (including herbs), even though the level varies depending on the source. Below is a short list of phytoestrogen food sources analyzed by researchers in Canada. The Canadian researchers analyzed 121 food samples, of which the food samples with the highest total phytoestrogen content are presented below. The food samples with the highest total phytoestrogen content were nuts and oil seeds followed by soy products.

Total phytoestrogen content presented below is the sum of isoflavones (genistein, daidzein, glycitein, formononetin), lignans (secoisolariciresinol, matairesinol, pinoresinol, lariciresinol), and coumestan (coumestrol).

Soy protein may reduce your DHT/Testosterone levels although it may also reduce your risk of Prostate Cancer. Oddly, for a bodybuilder the choice is obvious.

Soy is complete garbage and the only time it should ever be eaten is fermented and therefore disgusting.

Nobody got strong of extensions and Warlock is right about knee issues.
When it comes to exercises I as myself "WWLSD?". What would Louie Simmons do?

Knee issues occur with to high of weight and locking out to hard, and position of buttocks in seat and knee mechanical advantage as in where they are as opposed to back of knee and what position it is being supported in...., other wise, no issues for most........
I say "wwdcd"?

How could the girl amounts on these machines actually hurt anyone. I have pinner legs and I do the stack. I only use it for the pump I agree it's not a mass builder but its a great finisher I think. There is generally no point going heavy on it anyway, just go for 15 reps to get cuts and burn.
