As some of you know already, my pec has been bugging me a bit lately.. well a few days back i did some benching, warmed up nice and slow and it felt great:a+. Anyways.. i didnt want to go up to heavy low reps, but i did 335 for ten reps no spotter, probably could have got 11.. right now im the strongest ive been. Im still worried to go too heavy, so i punched in 335 for 10 reps in abunch of calculators and they all came up with a 447 max.. i was thinking 425ish, i havent tried maxing out in a long time, you think thats accurate? I know there is only one way to find out.. i think monday ill give her shit and go for it if i feel good.

I dont know bro....I dont put to much stock in them.....The psyche factor has a lot to do with benching IMO......good lift btw.....
I did one awhile ago and it said my 1 rep should be over 500 lbs, As maybe it should at my size, but i would get squished, and rip my pecs off if i ever tried 500 plus pounds...
Take it ez on the pec bro....good luck

After i saw your post i looked up a calculator and it was very accurate, i'm actually a little surprised. But the reality is i don't usually go below 4 reps on any workouts, because the goal for me is bodybuilding not powerlifting.

They become less accurate with the more reps that you do. Greg posted up his percentages on a thread which some guys thought were better than the calculators. A 3-5 rep max would give a good estimate of your 1rm.

This is true i think as i used my 4 rep max to calculate my 1 rep max.
wait until you are 100% to hit the 1rm .....if you absolutely Have to do it then be as safe as possible and make sure you are tucking your elbows hard......with elbows fully tucked you take a lot of the pressure off the pei's......only way to pecs and shoulders and throw it on the tri's....its the only way to bench if you ask me.....

Thanks for all the replies guys! Ill still take some time to work up to it.. next week ill try to see how 405 feels, warm up real good, slowly increase the weights over the next few weeks.. i was just surprised that it came out 447.. Truth be told, i like bodybuilding, but my true passion is power and strength
