I was doing some some really heavy squats and on the last rep I felt a stabbing pain in the groin area. Could this be the start of a hernia? I have had it once before 6 months to a year ago. I forgot all about it until it happened again. Could it be something else?

Should I take it easy on the exercises that increase abdominal pressure for a while? Not that I will stop the squats but just the really heavy stuff. I did another set after for higher reps and didn't hold my breath and had no problems.

Is it right where the leg meets the groin? I get pain in both sides, always after doing squats.. if I move my legs in any direction but forward, I get shooting pain in either side (depending on which leg I'm moving).

edit: attached a photo of where i get the pain

Hmmm.. maybe it was some sort of muscle or ligament strain? It was a new PB. Hard to explain where it hurt, under the urethra or nut sack sort of but slightly off to one side. I can still kind of feel it.

Actually that sounds about right.

edit: after looking at your picture I would say it is different. Felt lower, between the nuts and anus.

between the nuts and cornhole.....a stabbing pain? thats where your prostate is......maybe you need one of mr. o's famous prostate rubs?! 1st one is always free!!!

edit: not sure what it could be in that spot besides a lil prostate pain from you pushing too damn hard....

Maybe I blew a blood vessel down there? I don't know, that's why I'm asking but probably not the start of a hernia then?

could be a pelvic floor muscle cramp...

I'm only on 500mg of test a week. If it was the prostate it was probably just because my BP got too high from all the straining on the last rep.

This might also be a possibility. Whatever it was it feels fine now. I'm not going to worry too much unless it starts occurring more frequently. I was mostly concerned about a hernia but I think that is a different spot, more in the front where your balls drop down from when you are a kid.

That would be me. Sometimes even my tailbone is sore. It`s just something I`ve accepted and plan on dealing with. Streching before bed helps keep things in check as well as thourough warm ups on leg day.

Could be a hip flexor, it runs from the top of the hip down thru the groin and attaches near the glutes.

I actually find stretching the hip flexors makes things worse for this pain. I`ve done it many times off and on to prove this to myself. The best thing would be an MRI. But unless you want to wait a good year IF approved... In private is your only option and will cost you at least $600. But I should have done that because I`ve spent over 5 grand over the years to help take care of this, and I`m done donating my money to chiro`s, art people, masotherapists, accupuntures, osteopaths... I had gone to see a doc for this in the beginning and it wasen`t a groin problem. Does your guys pain go up your back on the side as well? I can`t do one are rows anymore as the obliques do some stabalizing during that exercise and causes pain. At least I can do deadlifts and front squats now so it`s not all that bad. Good luck with your injury`s fellas!

I've had that pain before... the one where you feel like your balls are about to explode.

I'm not smart enough to know if it's a really bad thing... but keep in mind they call them ball busting squats for a reason...

Dude, look up Defrancos agile 8 on youtube... I've had that same hip pain, but just on the right side, and after doing this warm up it's almost completely gone.

It took probably 3 weeks for it to go away completely after I started.
