The new crop of strongmen are coming in at a lot lower body fat recently. I'm certain they could be stronger with higher body fat but guys like Konstantinov and Poundstone are doing very well with the sponsors with more aesthetic builds.

And the only people who don't find geared lifting impressive are the ppl who have never done it. A deadlift suit gives like 30 pounds single ply, quite a bit more sumo and double ply. obviously if two people pull 800 and one doesn't have a belt on, and the other is in full double ply, the guy wearing nothing is more impressive... but the other guy still pulled 800 and is a lot more impressive than someone pulling 700... So it's just getting a sense of where it all fits in.
