Okay feel free to flame me, ignor me or, edit as required but, does anybody know how HRT effects Ulcerative Colitis?

I know that the Doctors love to treat UC with Cortisol steroids. Which really helps to fight Ulcerative Colitis but it is crap on every thing else in your life. The 5-ASA they tried me out on made it worse.

However I have done some digging and it looks like modern medicine stopped looking at any other steroids when they found one that they liked. I don't like it much and I don't really want to take it. But there are no other studies that I can find related to treating U.C. with steroids other then Cortisols.

I've had this thing since '92 but for the longest time I have been controlling it through diet and exercise. It looks like it might be getting away from me again.

Okay I'll take that as no experience with Ulcerative Colitis. Not surprising. I think it is kind of rare.

Lucky me I got a short straw.

HRT uses anabolic steroids. Ulcerative Colitis uses corticosteroids (such as prednisone). Big difference.

Yes I get that. But why? Wouldn't a steroid that builds up work better then a steroid that tears down? U.C. all ready tears up the gut so why use a corticosteroid?

Corticosteroids work really well as anti inflammatory agents which is beneficial for someone with UC. Anabolic steroids offer no anti inflammatory benefits to my knowledge
